What would happen?

Ok a really random question. I do not know enough about Pot plants to answer this.

What would happen if i took a big bud from a plant, exposed part of the stem in it, cut it down the middle like i was cloning a plant, add root hormones and put it in a growing medium?

I'm not 100% sure but I think it would revert back to vegetative state once it rooted.The bud would probably die off when the new leaf growth would start.
I'm sure someone will give you a definitive answer.

it would be fun to experiment with. do you think it would root at all? if so? do you think it would grow a leaf or 2? it would be sweet to find a killer bud and shove it in the ground and tell it to grow into a plant haha.

I would definatly be interrested in to see this tried out.

In theorie the plant would be in massive stress trying to support the bud growth/keep it alive.
Most likely it would die off rather quickly and would mold upon contact on the likely wet surface below.
But could be totally wrong

Its definately an interesting thought. I wouldnt be surprised if it didnt work though. its not like you can put an apple in the ground and expect a tree. But with the help of some root growth hormones it would be interesting to see what happens. i will try it later this week and post my pics haha.

are u trying to save a strain?...........if not dont waste your time it does work but it takes a long time ....... if your determined i would suggest u take more than one

I would like to save the strain yes. But since it is so easy to grow, starting from scratch doesnt bother me. It was more of a novelty project. it would just be cool to say i made a new plant from a bud in a bag or off another plant lol.

it takes forever your plant grows all fukd up for like a month ..............i wouldnt use a big bud i would probably take ten shitty little popcorn buds and throw out the slowest ones

how u clone is up to you........... i float my clones on a piece of foam in a fish tank......... the ph of my water is around 8 and i use no growth hormones or nutes........temp and cutting selection are what really matter

What you would be doing is called monster cropping. It will branch like crazy but is somewhat harder to get to root.

Take all the big buds Leave the bottom smaller ones. Then put the plant back into Veg. (24 Hours light). It will rejuvenate. I do it all the time. Some have even past up my newer clones.

I think it would be a waste, because your leaves are what does the photosynthesis, not the bud.

A bud in a bag? dude buds in bags are dead thy will not root, buds off plants will not so easily. if you want to save a strain cut off as much bud as you can leaving as many leaves as you can and reveg the entire plant. what you want to do would be impossible for you to accomplish. if you are that hard headed and really want to do it (even though you are asking questions about how to clone which already puts you in the no fly zone) take a lower branch that barly has a bud on it take a clone the way you normally would.

You haven't read much about weed. Because it doesn't work like that. You don't have a clue about root systems, light cycles etc. SO...... read up.

And as everyone said it COULD grow back into a plant. It isn't ideal, and I don't see how you would be entertained by "it growing a leaf or two"?

haha it was just an idea. yes i am very new to growing. I just planted my first seed. My father has some clones that i would like to experiment with. which is why i asked. It would be cool to take the bud and partial stem on the tip of the plant and try something with it. this is PURE EXPERIMENTAL. If nothing happens, Im still satisfied. I like growing shit, thats all.
