WTF? My Darkstar Seed Had Twins!?!?

Okay 3 possible outcomes here. Best outcome they are two kolas with the same root system. neutral outcome, they are separate plant structures and I have to kill the small one before their roots get tangled and starts feeding off each other. Worst outcome, the sprout is from some grass seed that accidently got mixed in the soil and Ive wasted all of your time.

On the picture, sorry for shitty resolution and I tried to get the seed husk visible but its camouflaged by the dirt, I assure you this is from one seed.

What should I do? Has any body else had any genetic hiccups with the DarkStar strain?

never grown that line, but ive come across this a few times, just kill one, as they both carnt survive to long on the same root system, ive tried beore just for the sake, both times the one that i choose, grew out to be a healthy plant,

Hey spits, I respectfully disagree. I had it happen recently with a Samsara Holy Grail 69 fem freebie that I continued to grow out for kicks & giggles. Pruned each at second internode and wound up with eight colas. Plant(s) did just fine...Had space otherwise would have just tossed the whole plant...I don't recommend spending time & money on "special needs" plants unless that's your idea of fun...Like I wrote, I had space and wanted to see what would turn out...No perceptible difference with other Sams I had going at the same time...FWIW

Since i never understood phenotypes but treuly wanted to learn more about breeding, then this seems like the perfect thread to go with to get some experience for everybody. Im keep you guys posted :D

Not viable for production, in my opinion. If you want an experiment, by all means, let it go and enjoy what you see!!

There is "some" truth with bamacheese on the viability.. Scientifically, the two sprouts are quite separate entities even though the roots are entangled. Ideally, they should gently be separated and re-potted as soon as you feel able to handle them without damage.

The complication is, however one seedling can be a hybrid (often described as 'not true to type') and all the others from a polyembrionic seed will be clones of the mother tree. The hybrid seedling does not always develop and survive, so you often cant easily tell whether any particular seedling is a hybrid or a clone. Only if a different characteristic develops at some stage can you be certain you do have a hybrid. If you wanted a new variety, that's a good thing - but if you wanted the original pheno its bad!

idk if this makes any sense...

Just make sure to make their root system optimal, get some GH super thrive or house and garden root excelulator

If you keep them this way, you better hope they are both females, unless you want to get a bunch of seeds.

i got fox farm kangaroots FF big bloom FF grow big FF tiger bloom and sm-90

the package was feminized, but then again the package said one seed xD

also on the separating possibility, if i do that, ill be more my 12 vegetative plant limit... although i guess technically i already am....

If i reallly keep the soil optimum can they both thrive or will they always hinder each other??/ :/

So it appears that viewing the dark star along side other seeds it is slower technically.. the dark star twins have just started their 2nd true node while everything else is starting its 3rd, but since there are 2 kolas it is *technically* starting its 4th, so considering 2 life-forms sharing the same nutrition ill consider it a win.

And well since everyone subscribed im assuming is interested in marijuana mutants i got something interesting for ya. Now on my last set of sprouts i had no idea i had a ph problem, i just planted the seeds straight in kellogs patio plus outdoor potting soil. i didnt realized i had to mix the soil with real dirt, live and learn. now while most of my sprouts died/killed one stressed out sprout looked stronger than the others, and of coarse it was LA Woman, because only a real woman could withstand that abuse :/ but here she is now back from the brink of death, look at this, the side kolas are gonna outgrow the main kola, this side branching is gonna be ridiculous:)

sorry for lack of updates, ran into ph issues and got pissed at myself but all is well now, maybe ill put a pic up later but i just wanted to announce that instead of alternating nodes like most normal marijuana plants do when they become sexual mature the main dark star stalk has triple nodes, thats right 3 leaves coming from a single node on the plant, two opposite of each other like normal with an awkward 3 leaf on the side lol. all i can say is that the lesser stalk looks puny but is healthy
