When to flip the lights

When is the best time to change the lght cycle? Is there a suggested number of days from seed? What about clones? When do u start counting days? After they have decent roots and you put them in pots or count days from when they are cut? Or screw all that and just go by planter size and figure according to light height?

If starting from seed... Start 12/12 when the plants are about 1/3 the size you want the plant to finish at.
If starting from clone... Start 12/12 when they are around half the size you want them to finish at.

Clones in most cases stretch less then plants from seed.

true, but it also depend on strain, my 80% indica don't stretch more then double at max, and also depend on grow method used

I like to let em mature as a minimum

as a rule of thump (also depend on strain) they are considered seedlings for the first 2-3 weeks, then they will use +4 weeks to mature, when the plant start to set randomly side shoots instead in set`s

it will in most case`s also show sex here with a few white hair`s

wait until that or later if you want the most yield from one plant, if plant count is`t important, you could also go 12/12 from seed with multiply small plant, some like that, I don't, I like em to mature, matter of taste I believe, so anything from 0-12 week`s is considered "normal" indoors and most do sumthing in between

If you want to wait until the plants are mature the way to tell is that the branches are single and not double.

Agreed...I was giving a pretty simple generalized response, He gave no indication if he was growing Indica dom, sativa dom or a hybrid.
Indica dom will stay pretty short and stocky, Sativa dom will stretch like crazy and a hybrid will be in the middle somewhere.


I veg all my plants around 1 month, by about week 3-4 I usually see pre-flowers forming.
Letting a plant mature in veg (I agree with slipon) will not only increase yield but also produces a much nicer plant all around.

Thanx i didnt know that about seeds and clones. Just fyi i got super silver and chronic clones. 2 5x5 tents each with 1000w 1 mh 1hps. Soil grow. 8 inch exh doing awsome job removing the heat.
