i dont know the taste of his finished product obv lol but he kills RDWC taking it to new levels
Nope, not impressed. The video you pointed out shows a nice 'grow', everyone can "veg" plants. He's bragging about the stem while it's a skinny emeffer.
I'm not familiar with Apollo gear, but the BS about the cheap bulbs seems just that, BS excuse. I rather pay a little more for a more complete spectrum and more lumen, the $20-$30 extra for that I
easily regain from using it.
a flush that most people talk about is that bs imvho about dumping like 3xs the volume of soil in water through a medium in some mythical attempt to wash out something they think is in the buds by dumping water through the medium, something that i never quite understood myself..
Not by flushing something from buds of course (some really think that?), but flushing (mineral) nutes from the soil so the plant starts feeding on itself, pushing the fall effect, instead of keeping it green till harvest time (=chlorophyll taste). Keeping the (sugar) leaves allows me to dry slowly, which is the key to good taste, but leaving too much green on increases chlorophyll taste so it's better to let it suck it out of the leaves instead of continuing to feed it till the end. (just saying what I know is for many I know a main factor in that 'mythical attempt'.)
Obviously you cannot flush all nutes from soil, especially with regular tap water, so it reduces the amount of nutes available to the plant. And that's imo what one should do on hydro as well, 'reduce' the ppm to a little less than it needs, measure the next day and see if and how fast it dropped further (which it will if you 'underfert' it) and adjust accordingly. If it dropped too far too fast add nutes, if it didn't drop at a rate that would bring it to ~200-400ppm at harvest time, add some water.
I'll add this though, if this were a poll amongst coffeeshops in NL 100% of the votes would go to "Yes, flush (or I won't buy your shit)". The word "flushing" by itself gives the impression it is 'cleaner' and I think that is a large motivator for people to do/want flushing.
But, as a good test, go to the max with boosters with two plants, flush one and not the other, dry for a week and taste... Curing? Well, not everyone has the luxury to do that, on the contrary, storing mj is in many places one of THE risky parts, so many suppliers want to get rid of their stuff asap, which is as soon as it's dry enough. Point being that the slower you dry and the better you cure the less important 'flushing' (of any kind) becomes. Making the answer to "should I flush" always "that depends". It's not a requirement for good tasting weed, it's not entirely pointless under all circumstances either.
