Roseman says not to flush
Exactly treat this "weed" as a vegetable and you will have great success. In other words don't flush. Just a forum myth. This topic has been highly debated just do a search and see. Basically you don't want to stress the plant of essential nutrients by flushing them away and starving them. Nitrogen for example thought to have a big impact on taste. Just don't overfeed and give the plants what they want. Keep the leaves green till harvest. Hope that helps. Good luck.its been pointed out on this forum many times before that no other crop is flushed. there's no rational fact based reason to do it and it will effect yield. bad flavor comes from poor drying/curing, bad storage, mold, or stuff ppl spray on their plant (neem, pesticide...).
Long before mj forums... before regular folks had internet...Just a forum myth.
Agreed.Basically you don't want to stress the plant of essential nutrients by flushing them away and starving them.
Bad advice.Keep the leaves green till harvest.
"Dead" would be taken it a little too far, but at harvest time, to an extend, I do want them to be yellow-ish (autumn). I grow weed, not leaves. If your leaves are still entirely green when you harvest you either fed them too long or harvested way too soon (IMHO: do whatever works for you, easy to test the difference after all). Are you saying you want your leave to be yellow and dead ?
dead on imvho.. leaves are what grows buds, so why on earth you'd want the leaves to go yellow ( no offense to anyone who's thinking follows this route) is well beyond me.. general leaf health effects general plant and therefore bud health.. keep em green..I don't know man I agree with you most part except letting the leaves become necrotic and yellow. The weed that you grow is obviously directly proportional to the leaves that you grow. The more green leaves you have the more "energy" you have. It's the leaves that produce the bud so if your growing weed I would think the first thing would be to take care of those leaves and keep them green happy. Just like i wouldnt want my tomato leaves to yellow. Same concept. The bud will come when it's ready. It's all in the nutes you are using. Just my thoughts respect yours as well really comes down to whatever makes you happy. Nice pics though looking good n tasty thanks for sharing.
Exactly i see that a lot about letting the leaves turn yellow. Not sure why as i have not seen or read any scientific evidence that this would benefit your plants or any plants for that matter, and if there is and anyone can provide me with this ill be glad to read but hey whatever makes them happy if they like yellow leaves let em turn yellow. Ill stick with keeping em green.dead on imvho.. leaves are what grows buds, so why on earth you'd want the leaves to go yellow ( no offense to anyone who's thinking follows this route) is well beyond me.. general leaf health effects general plant and therefore bud health.. keep em green..
Even a little necrotic doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't go all the way inside the bud, but necrotic and dead leaves is stretching it to the opposite, it's about not being fully green anymore. I very much doubt it affects my yield negatively (plant's pretty much done by then), but I know it improves the taste/quality noticeably (I will add: combined with my drying setup and methods which does NOT involve trimming all leaves before drying).I don't know man I agree with you most part except letting the leaves become necrotic and yellow.
Not the plant (which is going to be garbage soon) but the eventual taste of the bud. Again, I grow (quality good tasting) weed not leaves or 'plants'. I don't think in real life and online (in NL) I have ever seen someone harvest before their plants reached their final season (the fall). That's in no way a recommendation or 'scientific evidence', if anything it means do whatever works for you. I do respect (all) your comments and perspectives at least as much. The fall can be avoided/delayed of course by continuing to feed (imo overfeed) but that doesn't help taste... wait and on top of that you advice not to flush at all... I am almost daily surprised by how many ways to skin a cat there seem to be and how much they contradict each other sometimes. Not sure why as i have not seen or read any scientific evidence that this would benefit your plants or any plants for that matter,
