My third grow, Blue Hash and Lemon Kush

From the few grows I've had, it's my observation that the first 2-3 weeks in 12/12 the plant, regardless of light-position, stretches a whole bunch. I think that this is the plant's attempt to get all her soon-to-be buds all near the top of the plant.

I'm more than willing to help my plant do its best to get those buds up near the light.

Hey there any updates or photos on the lemon kush.? just wondering how its all coming along. My lemon kush has been on 12/12 since 7/7/13 6 days now. how long does the strech last for. and when did you start seeing flowers when you switched.:bigjoint:

I've yet again revamped my flower room, and it's still not done. I installed a new 600w HPS air-cooled light fixture and took down the 400w HPS. While the plants were out of the room, I snapped some pics.

First the Blue Hash:

As you can see, I haven't mastered the art of an even canopy. With that said, it's my opinion that I'll have two main cola's that are over 14" and a ton of nice buds from this plant.

Speaking of not having an even canopy......I've got two branches on the Lemon Kush that decided they were not going to play with the other branches and took off......to a total height of 44"! The rest of the plant conformed to my wishes....but not these two.

Has anyone else ever had a plant do this? Getting the light so everyone is happy on this plant is becoming impossible.

You may have to bend it over and tie down those two branches. I had one plant out of six of do that once and I bent it down and tied it to itself and it straightened out in a few days and was fine. It actually looked kinda cool. It had a 90 degree elbow before the cola.

Lilroach you are growing a freaking Triffid there! Haha, brilliant. Bend her over or supercrop her or something! I've got the complete opposite - Pearl is now 12 weeks old and only 10 inches tall (whilst still tied down!) and she's sativa. Her buds are nearly ready tho. x

Lady Helena....I've been following your grow journal and can tell you that Pearl is a great looking plant. My first grow was intentionally abbreviated (AKA "small") and that smoke lasted me through my second grow (AKA too big of plants) of which leads me to this grow. I hope these two plants will yield enough to last me until (about 12 weeks from now) my next crop will be ready to harvest.

UPDATE: I took rockymtnman's suggestion and tied-down the two tall branches.....well sorta.....I bent my first branch down and felt the very unsatisfying "SNAP". I am now "super-cropping" that branch as it now is making an almost 90 degree turn mid-way up the plant. I was a little more ginger with the second branch and it's bent over without the snap.

Yeh sorry to here that. Sometimes it takes a couple days to get it down all the way. I tie a cord near the top and pull the cord down and anchor to the edge of the bucket. Sometimes I go back the next day and tighten the cord, and then attach it to the main stem, bend it some more, until I get it down to horizontal.
I snapped one once also and the plant still cranked buds up past the broken part.
It later healed and just became this weird flat section of stem near the elbow.

The cracking was my fault as I didn't notice that the branch was wrapped around the wrong way on one of my bamboo stakes. Note to self: Don't bend branches while very stoned.

You should be more than fine though. Those plants are beasts!
I think you could have hit em with an axe and used some for firewood and still be okay.

I just checked the Lemon Kush....it's doing fine and the top and bud-sites along the branch are now all pointing to the light. This may be an odd looking cola when this is all done.

The blue hash is looking amazing. I touched a bud and sniffed my finger (I ALWAYS do this ever since my dating years :-P) and it smells just like hash! I'm pretty fired up about this plant.

I took some "lights off" pics this morning:

IMG_9767.jpg

It's hard to tell but the Lemon OG Kush's main cola has buds that normally would grow up the stem now are pointing upwards at an angle from the stem since I bent them over.

The Blue Hash has multiple colas that are over 12" long. Next time I take pics I'll bring my tape measure for reference. I'm guessing I'm about 4 weeks away from tasting this wonderful weed.

I had to shut-off my 600w HPS last night as the grow-room's temps were over 90 degrees. I may have to revert back to the T5 HO four-bulb light as the primary light source during this long hot period.

I'm finding a major flaw in my ventilation system. While the intake fan is about 18 feet away from the exhaust fans, the heat in the basement where they both feed is now in the mid-80 degree range. So what happens is that the intake fan is sucking hot air into the grow room, and heating it up more and more as the exhaust fan pumps out even hotter air into the basement. I have a loop of ever warming air going on in the basement.

Opening a basement window to let out the hot air is an option I will have to look into. I just don't know where I'll find cool air to replace it.

I'm finding it challenge to take good pictures when the mylar is in the background. I have so many branches staked, and other branches that are mending, that I don't dare move the plants around too much.

I attempted to take pics of the Lemon OG Kush's now somewhat horizontal colas, and point out that the buds that would normally climb up the cola are now growing off at an angle.

IMG_9769.jpgIMG_9768.jpg

I'm not sure how big a bud has to be to be considered a "donkey dick", but I think I may have a few contenders.

IMG_9772.jpgIMG_9770.jpgIMG_9771.jpg

No....I'm not cheating on the measuring.....I started the tape at the beginning of the bud-clusters. These buds are bigger than the plants I harvested on my first grow.

Brilliant Lilroach. Those horizontal branches, that's kinda what Pearl is like, just not as big. They look fab. All those little buds shoot up and make mini colas!
Haha, loving the donkey-dick colas too. I might have a bunch of rabbit-ear colas...hehehe!

Plan D or is it M?

Ok.....I think I have finally gotten my grow room to where I like it. I have a 400w HPS and a 400w MH over the two plants. I also have my 4' T5HO hanging vertically along side the bottom of each. Temps are in the upper-80's and I can live with that for the next few months as neither of these strains seem to mind the higher temperatures.

One thing I'm happy about is that neither plant is smelling up my entire house as my White Widow had done in the past. Picking a non-stinky strain cuts down on the paranoia as they head into their final weeks. This may change as the BH is in it's 7th week, and the LK is in it's 5th.

When I started growing last December I had no idea if I preferred Indica or sativa, as I watch these two very different plants grow, I like the indica's plant structure better as it gives a nice plant with thick stems, grows quickly, and is abundant in buds. The Lemon OG Kush is more lanky, thinner stems, and it too grows very fast in veg. My favoring the BH plant may be because I've been able to manage it a little better than the LK....

I don't look forward to trimming the BH though as the buds are VERY leafy......but they are amazingly BIG buds and will suffer through the trimming somehow :o)

First off congrats to a nice healthy garden. It's funny because when in school my professor said the biggest thing I will learn in his class is how to improvise boy has that paid off now. I think we all have height, PH or other issues at one point in our garden. Very accurate description in the difference between the way both Indica's and Sativa's grow all the way down to the trim lol. My question now is which do you prefer to smoke...Indica or Sativa?

For me, the Indica sneaks up on me as I smoke it whereas the sativa hits me as the smoke enters my lungs. About a 1/2 hour into the buzz, I can't tell them apart.

Keep in mind I while I've been smoking weed for over 40 years, most of the time I never really knew what it was I was inhaling as I never believed what the dealer was telling me it was to begin with....so I never really compared one type to another. Now that I'm growing my own, I'm just starting to discern the differences now that I know what I'm smoking.

The White Widow I previously grew hit me hard and fast, but the buzz is relatively short-lived....say an hour or so later, I'm not feeling much at all. The indica I grew previously (SP9 vintage 2006) gave me a more long lasting buzz.

I'm very interested in sorting out how these two plants differ in taste and buzz. The Lemon OG Kush's buds have a lighter smell to them (keep in mind it's two weeks behind the BH) than the very hashy smelling BH. I've heard many good things about OG Kush, and hope that I get many of those traits in the end.

It's been seven weeks since the Blue Hash went into 12/12. Until last night, I hadn't even bothered to look at the tich's since the buds, as big as they are, didn't look anywhere near ready.

To my dismay, when I checked 'em out last night, there were amber trichs. Not a lot mind you, but they were there just the same. I'm looking at the buds and there's no way they're ready. They have a ton of fattening up to do.....frosting to put on the buds and leaves.....and at least two more weeks of my house smelling like buds.

This is the first time I've grown this strain, but have grown similar Indica (SP9 2006) and have a good feel on how this plant's supposed to look at harvest. I'm sitting here wondering if the two weeks of high temps (around 90ish) in the grow room has affected my buds. Has anyone else had issues with premature amber trichs?
