Solar power and/or wind power anyone?

Too bad there couldn't be some sort of windmill or solar panel assembly party. Like they do for AK's. So we'd all learn at once how to build, while an expert is there to guide. We pass along the info.

well ive been hearing this hippy dippy trippy self sufficiency self reliant talk for like 40+ yrs....

i guess we can never really get 'off' the grid until we find an alternative to toilet paper--

(we dont use it here in the 10tHd on planet x....everything is recycled back into the grid)

i always wipe with high cbd strains for added effect....unless i want to wake and bake/wipe
then those big indica leaves work best-

problem with wind turbines though is it depends on where you are. there are maps that show avg windspeeds for your area and that makes a huge diff on whether that is the way to go or not. atleast with solar even on cloudy days uv rays are still making it to the panels.

Its been awhile, been in the lab putting stuff together.

Fuck power for Patriots! You have to buy a expensive book right? In America renewable energy is only economical if you use it to stay in your tier 1 price package. So when your footprint is big the electrical company gets richer! So a small bank of wind or solar panels and batteries, to keep your electrical bill within its tier 1 pricing that is were it pays off.

O, and I heard this enough! Your electrical company LOVES money! Why would they turn you in? Cops/P!Gs can reference and easily obtain a search warrant for grows based on your excessively high bill. As in if they suspect you they go to the electrical company first!

If I had a party with all you fuckers, I don't think I'd pick that day to climb a tower or mess with a battery bar. roflmao.
Within 10 minutes of just homeless coming up here, I can't climb a fucking 4 ft step ladder.

Here in Hawaii PV (photo voltaic) Systems are popping all over the place. Just installed a 38 panel system on my home. I product about 60 kWh a day. Which the excess during the day goes to the utility co. ( I use a above average household of juice:mrgreen: )
During the night I get most of the excess back from the utility co. So my monthly bill is 17 bucks, service fee.
Note this system does not use battery banks tied into the system.
But, if you did tie a large battery array in. You could be completely of the grid. But, the cost would be Nutz due to the batteries set up.
The PV system I put in cost me 38K. But, I can get back 30% from FED, 35% State in Tax breaks. So, after recouping from the Taxes. The system cost me around 16K and will pay for itself in 3 years.
Alternate Energy is not CHEAP!

Interesting. After this convo about group buying and building sub-components ourselves, I see that Benzie County is looking to do the same. Coordinate building classes and bulk-buying access to solar panels.

Sir Stanky sent me some great info on building wind generators. I will buy the info from power 4 patriots also.
I'd love to have a site to discuss this and try it, including the grows. This site no longer welcomes us (well many of us anyway) to do that.
I have a lot to learn from now until I start buying parts anyway.

I'd also be interested in some discussion and collaboration on this. I like the idea that pre-fab solar panels cost $$, but building the panels = cheap(er). Probably some of that going on with wind, also. DIY or cottage industry for one of us. Both are great options IMHO. Collective volume allows a direct purchase from the manufacturer.

By the way, the same is true of soil. We could have a pallet of rock powder delivered for local distribution at a certain time, rather than buying little bags on ebay, for example.

What about buying our worm compost from one of our brothers instead of a bag?

LED panels could be built from bulk purchased LEDs and heat sinks. Now THAT's certainly a build party potential.

I like the idea of self sufficiency. And the next best thing is a circle of like minded brothers sharing methods, and using an informal co-op to help each other out. I really dig this concept.

Just a side note- These would be successful if there was no hint of MMJ associated. Just a solar group, or a wind meeting, or an LED build group, composting club, etc. Open to anyone out there. Everyone out there.

people say it too expensive. look at it this way, drop the cash to do it and watch how fast you wont pay another electric bill, do it enough and you'll be paid by your electric company. it works, but you have to think ahead and know panels , even if its just a little. it doesn't take much to get learn what to do and how to do it.

That's just it- if a simple system were defined and could be ganged together, whatever and give access to the components. Make it easy and people will do it.

Buying the cells by the brick is one thing. Buying pallets of bricks maybe brings even more savings.
