Best LEDs today? Share info!

Basically, what are the best LEDs today? I'm thinking output, efficiency and price.
I've been looking at Cree XPG, Cree XML, Osram Golden Dragon, Bridgelux etc. But finding out which is best, is not a small task when many of them run at different currents with different outputs, spectra etc.

The Osram GD might not be good to use, due to their very small footprint and rapidly decreasing life time as their junction temperature rises.

I'm looking for LEDs in these categories:
- 2700-2900k, Warm white
- 450nm, Deep blue / royal blue
- 660nm, Deep red
- 720nm, Far red

The best far red I've found, is the LedEngin LZ4-40R300.

Share info, thoughts and experience! Preferably LEDs that can be driven at 1000mA - makes it easier to drive them, because they can be run in series.

Compilation of info:
RED 630nm:
Cree XP-E2 (XPEBRD‑L1‑0000‑00801) BUY DATASHEET
(Φ73.9 lm @ 700 mA @ 2.45V)

FAR RED 700+nm:
LedEngin LZ4-40R300 (745nm) BUY DATASHEET
(Φ1.60W @ 700 mA @ 11.84V)

I was using their own words :) Their thermal properties are quite a bit worse than Cree. As far as I remember (I might be wrong) the Osram GD is 6-11 K/W where as the Cree on a star is 4 K/W - both for the junction temperature.

The WW from Ledengin seems.. odd. Really high red, low blue and quite a lot in 'the middle'.

the Cree XML is not in the same class as the GD... 4 times the power of a GD

the Cree XPE series is more like the GD, both have a max Current of 1A. and here we see about 9K/W for the XPE.

Hi JMD,
I like the Luxeon ES. http://shop.stevesleds.com/LUXEON-ES-3-Watt-LEDs_c27.htm I have several home made LED panels using the Luxeon ES's and I am very happy with them. As far as I know they don't make a far red so the LedEngin may be your best choice for that piece of the spectrum. To get the required far red, I just supplement with a UFO Flower Accelerator which is 90w of all far red.

hi metaltoots,
I think I met you on another forum isn't it? ^^
I can't find this vivilux monted on a PCB do you know where to find it?

I don't have the forum cred to setup one, but I'll be happy to chip in for 100 or 200 if someone hooks up a group deal on those crees. On top of that our local post service will want an arm or leg for international packages. :)

Gonna fix a spreadsheet, so it will be easier to compare the different LEDs.
