I put the oil in a wide mouthed wine glass, then into a pot of boiling water/hot water. the oil bubbled for a few hours, i went over and popped the bubbles every few minutes. It went from cloudy to clear amber. Unfortunately when I put some it to fire it still cracked and popped like a sparkler. Im not sure what could have happened.......

you will not remove all the solvents without a vacuum purge. also butane will draw in moisture when it boils off. also purging is most effective as thin film purging which simply means that.

best thing you can do is test the butane by spraying some on a mirror and letting it dry. if there is residue left that may be the cause of the plastic smell. other than that, perhaps the starting product was not flushed

Yup.. You will feel like such a crack head after you see how much purges off under a good vacuum, pretty wild how much butane gets smoked around these parts

The thing that is confusing me the most is that i have made great oil(my opinion of great lol) using this same method with great success at least 10 times. This is the 1st time i failed:(

Imma try again with adif brand of butane and with dif weed..... iunno. I LOVE OIL but this is disheartening haha

its not just a local problem. bho has made everyone who has dabbed a chemistry major and immediate expert lol. also if you dont reach a full vac then its as if you did not vac at all. and dont get me started on whipping...

Yah thats all u need, and a good vac pump... but you will probably want parchment paper or silicon ready to go, a proper vacuum pump, heat pad and ir thermometer are needed too
i like 3cfm two stage from harbor freight, make sure to teflon fittings to ensure full vac. i also like parchment over slick pads as butane will warp silicone over time. electric skillet works great as well.

So you just run the butane, water bath it until the solvent is gone and its all goopey, then toss it in the vac?? (basically)
i dont like a water bath. too much avail moisture. elec skillet works best. always do it outside!!!!
