It makes the mh bulb blow out in about 3 months of use but thats all youll need out of it to veg with anyways. That could actually do a couple grows.
The reason the bulb blows faster is because there is 1 extra part in a hps ballast that isnt in an mh ballast called an igniter. Since your thinking of getting a 150watt hps, they dont make name brand mh bulbs that small anyways, youll be using cheapos that cost about $10.
That Would works LOTS better than that T5 setup bro. Believe me Ive used both before. I was told that fluro tubes were okay to go with and would do well but they produced loose fluffy airy buds that didnt weigh much of shit, althogh as potent as any other. When I made the change to hps my yields went up by 3x wile still being potent as fuck.
You can actually get a good 400watt hps ballast for about $80 on the internet though....not sure why your wanting to go with one that small as 150watt.
If you ever decide to aircool it, Diy a cooltube for it only costs about $60.
Ive used a 400watt just fine in a 4x5 area before with no cooling though.

Theres alot of reasons why I dont wanna use too high Watt HPS's...The highest Ill go is 250W...they egt too hot..theyr too load,etc.So if you guys had two options..would you buy a T-5 Fluro..or a 150W HPS..mind you this means vegging and flowering under the same light...so is it better vegging and flowering under a 150W???

Can you guys tell me how hot a 150 HPS gets..hopw close can you put your plants??Also how many plants you think I can fit under it..considering Im doing a SOG from clones??....Ok..lets say I put 10 plnats under this light..how many grams should I get per plant??Lets say I use coir mixed with perlite...and get a good indica strain??Isa it possible to achive an ounce or two under 150W HPS?!!!!

I've seen kids putting HPS bulbs on normal lamps...any opinions...I might be mistaken in what I saw but is this possible, and when you get a conversion bulb it doesn't have the same early burnout problem...right? sorry for bein a thread jacker no one pays attention to people without 'goddess' 'chick' 'girl/gal' in their names....

This is a grow with all CFLs & fluros from seed to harvest. It's been flowering for 44 days. I've noticed in my experiment - this is my first grow - that when you switch to flower from vegatative the use of an HID must be much better because I've been comparing to others & mine just does not seem as far along. Vegatative growth with fluros is great as long as they surround the plant & they are the right spectrum. It will flower under fluros, but from what I read the buds will not be nearly as dense.

nope, unless that lamp has a large ballast inside it.
how long did you veg that plant dfunk? looks like a while. im an advocate of early flowering for cfls. keep them small so you can get all you can from the lights. my girl is almost 10 weeks from seed now, been flowering near 6 weeks. it was about 10 inches when i flowered, had lst'd it some. continued lst a while till i tore the plant. then abandoned the idea. now its just over a foot, im a little suprised i figured it would explode in growth after flower. heres a few pics of it. oh its a hermi too. lots of seeds on it... only plant in the room.

I only vegged for a month - the plant is only 74 days from seed right now. I kept the lights close & all around the sides the whole time. I used 6500K & 5000K bulbs for veg & now I'm using mostly 3000K with some other spectrums. The plant consistently grows about an inch a day most days. I don't think it's stretching much it's just bushy. I also never used LST on this plant, but I did attempt to supercrop to create as many bud sites as possible. I guess it's just a tall variety - it was a unknown bagseed. I think it's going well, but an HID would probably having me looking at some more dense buds right now. I have pictures in my gallery of when it was only like 45 days from seed if you want to check them out.

Yeah..I was readin' a thread yesterday were some guy flowered a pure sativa with only 3 CFL's!!Crazy shit...Anyways,Ive been jacked before on this thread..so a second time aint that bad!!Lol..Do you think its better flowering plants with a single cola..or LSTing to get multiple top buds??I would prefer just vegging for like 10 days(clones)and then flowering while theyr short....
