soil grow log and nutrient advice needed

Hi, just started on my second grow, I have a 2.4m x 1.2m x 2m bud box grow tent, and 17 seeds from Attitude. 5 fem critical kali mist, 5 fem cotton candy (delicious seeds). 1 fem jamican dream (eva seeds). freebies include, 1 fem acorn snowbud, 1 fem underdawg og (th seeds). 1 fem white widow (dinafem seeds). 1 fem martian kush, 1 fem sour kosher (DNA genetics). 1 fem silver kush (reserva privada).

Soil grow with canna professional, which is lightly fertilised i believe so no nutes for first month or so.
Seeds were placed into water overnight then straight into jiffy plugs soacked for 2 mins in tepid water, yorkshire water (good quality tap water). placed in a box kept in dark for 24 hours then, onto plates and covered with plastic bags in sunlight, all sprouted within the next day or two. on the 10th of August all were placed into small 10cm high pots, and placed under 1 300w dual spec cfl for 3-5 days then under 400w MH, day 12 transplanted into 10litre pots and i have them spread under 2 x 400w MH and 1 300w dual spec cfl. They have been watered lightly twice and one good water when re potted into final pots. I will now veg for 4 weeks on 24/7, this is how they have been getting light from the start.

My question is, i have been given some nutes as a courtesy for a late soil delivery, bio bizz topmax, bioheaven and general organics diamond black. Never used this before, for my first grow i used canna terra veg, flores, boost and pk13/14, very small amounts of all these and had good results.

After my success with canna first grow and i have to say, im reluctant to change nutes. i had a 1x 1 x 2m tent with no air intake/exhaust no fan, lots of condensation dripping from inside of tent accidently stretched plants and still produced huge colas.

Heres some pics of girls at 15 days, i have one 6" intake bringing fresh air into tent which is open most of the time and a 16" oscillating fan, will buy another intake/exhaust for when they go 12/12.

I have struggled to keep temps below 85f but are now between 80 and 85 during the day and 77-83 night. One or two of the plants have a very slight outer leaf curl but no discolouration so im putting it down to heat stress as at times temps have hit 90f. I hope that im on track and the girls are ok.

My thoughts exactly, i noticed when re potting that the roots looked a bit flimsy not many of them maybe i didn't water enough because the soil was realy dry/ dusty, maybe a good thing i dont know, i was worried about the slight outer leaf curl on a few of them see picture 7, heat stress i think, also before i start on flores in a few weeks, i wondered if any of the nutes i got for free might help promote root growth?

I'd also agree & say if ur happy with your previous regime, then stick to it. It sounds like u got good results last time, so seeing if u can recreate same results again with same nutes would be good challenge.

Plus, i'm betting u probably know about more about what ur doing this 2nd time round, so if u stick to same nutes and end up seeing any increase in final yield, u will know its down to ur refined techniques rather thinking it must be due to a new nute product. And in my experience, its best to get your own basic growing skills known & proven before you start trying to improve on them with better nutes/equipment, etc. And it seems like u changed tent & airflow set-up since last time, so thats already major changes to factors in the equation u gotta account for, so why throw a new nute regime into mix as well?!

Overall tho, i gotta say they do look very nice, healthy little plants and the main plus point being how uniform all the heights are for such a wide range of genetics - very impressive! And the large range of genetics u got is a brilliantly tasty choice too - am very envious!

Have decided to buy 2 x 6" air cooled tubes to combat heat issues. Not sure if i should push or pull air through them, using a 6" fan.

Either... ducting running out of tent- light-ducting-light-ducting-fan-carbon filter. ( fan would be sucking air through filter and blowing through lights out of tent )

Or

Fan outside tent sucking air from inside tent. fan-ducting- light-ducting-light-ducting-carbon filter. ( fan would be sucking air through lights as opposed to blowing )

Is there a correct way? would welcome any comments thankyou.

In was wondering are those hydrostone balls on top of you plants and if so can you give a little info on what you use them for?

Hi i use them in the soil for drainage, even though im using well airiated soil, last thing you want is your soil preventing your roots from breathing this will cause nutrient lock out and your plant will suffocate. Just make sure to wash the stones first. Putting them on top of the soil was just a way to prevent the soil from heat exposure from the lights.

Think 10 meteres of ducting 2 cooltubes and a carbon filter with the 6" fan outside the tent sucking air through the system is just too much to create any significant negative pressure and with a 5" intake its creating too much positive pressure. 4 hours later to find this out :cuss: Will change it when flowering, might make a difference with fan connected to filter and blowing air through cooltubes. The tubes are cool, hardly any heat from them, but still temps in the 80s, too hot and humid this time of year in UK.

Nice looking crew you got going. Note that your earlier pix show the outer leaves almost as wide as the pot. The wider leaves mirror the root expansion, so that means the slow growth you have been seeing is just about to end. In a few days you will be seeing close to an inch a day growth if you keep them in the same pots. If you want some really big plants some would transplant now into bigger, wider pots. I prefer to let them get mildly rootbound (when the large leaves are well past the pot rim) as that stimulates the plant to grow more side branches. I prefer bushy to tall, eh? BigSteve.

Hey, was wondering when they would show a bit of growth and its begun about an inch a day i was gettin worried . Im going to have to keep them in the 10litre pots as i can see space becoming an issue, maybe next time, less plants and bigger pots.

Funny, here in da USA, BBC shows are packaged on Public Television as something called "Masterpiece Theatre". All the Public TV snobs say, "Theydon't make TV like this in the USA." :-)
