fuck all those shit factories and their fake bread and shitty meats.

if your bread wasn't baked fresh that day, it's crap.

if the turkey in your hoagie came from some god forsaken poultry mill, Dog save your soul.

don't even get me started on cheese not from a local source, like the tillamook cheese which satisfies my hunger and fuels my massive anal gas eruptions.

carrying a gun and being a certain skin color are two vastly different things.

you'd have to be borderline retarded to even compare the two.
You'd think so but then again their persecution complex tells them otherwise. Anything short of being able to spin/stroke your gun in a starbucks is the man keeping you down.

Why would you be in a starbucks?
Lol, At the corner store that 10$ spent on cheap coffee could buy you a pack of smokes, a 12Oz coffee, and enough gas to drive around while you drink it.
The only reason to go in; Tell your Barrista you want a:
Double Ristretto Venti Half-Soy Nonfat Decaf Organic Chocolate Brownie Iced Vanilla Double-Shot Gingerbread Frappuccino Extra Hot With Foam Whipped Cream Upside Down Double Blended, One Sweet'N Low and One Nutrasweet, and Ice.

...yeah, that would be the election of that fool in the Whitehouse and it won't heal until we throw the bum out.
Come on. They got elected by hook or crook and find they can't do very much, except bomb someone and then you might choke, freeze or over-reach like Bush.

The defensive use of guns is usually either not discussed at all in the media or else is depicted as if it means bullets flying in all directions, like the gunfight at the OK Corral. But most defensive uses of guns do not involve actually pulling the trigger.

If someone comes at you with a knife and you point a gun at him, he is very unlikely to keep coming, and far more likely to head in the other direction, perhaps in some haste, if he has a brain in his head. Only if he is an idiot are you likely to have to pull the trigger. And if he is an idiot with a knife coming after you, you had better have a trigger to pull.

Surveys of American gun owners have found that 4 to 6 percent reported using a gun in self-defense within the previous five years. That is not a very high percentage but, in a country with 300 million people, that works out to hundreds of thousands of defensive uses of guns per year.

Yet we almost never hear about these hundreds of thousands of defensive uses of guns from the media, which will report the killing of a dozen people endlessly around the clock.

The murder of a dozen innocent people is unquestionably a human tragedy. But that is no excuse for reacting blindly by preventing hundreds of thousands of other people from defending themselves against meeting the same fate.

Although most defensive uses of guns do not involve actually shooting, nevertheless the total number of criminals killed by armed private citizens runs into the thousands per year. A gun can also come in handy if a pit bull or some other dangerous animal is after you or your child.

We need to recognize the painful reality that, regardless of what we do or don't do about gun control laws, there will be innocent people killed by guns. We can then look at hard facts in order to decide how we can minimize the number of needless deaths.

But that is not the way the issue is presented by many in politics or the media. Every story about an accidental shooting in the home will be repeated again and again, while a thousand stories about lives saved by defensive uses of a gun will never see the light of day in most newspapers or on most television newscasts.
More children may die in bathtub accidents than in shooting accidents, but you are not likely to read that in most newspapers or see it on television newscasts. Some in the media inflate the number of children killed by counting as children the members of criminal teenage gangs who shoot each other in their turf fights.

Many seize upon statistics which show that Britain has stronger gun control laws than the United States and lower murder rates. Yet they ignore other countries with stronger gun control laws than the United States, but which have much higher murder rates, such as Brazil, Russia and Mexico.

Even in the case of Britain, London had a much lower murder rate than New York during the years after New York State's 1911 Sullivan Law imposed very strict gun control, while anyone could buy a shotgun in London with no questions asked in the 1950s.

Today, virtually the entire law-abiding population of Britain is disarmed-- and gun crimes are vastly more common. Gun control laws make crime a safer occupation when victims are unarmed.

The gun control crusade today is like the Prohibition crusade 100 years ago. It is a shared zealotry that binds the self-righteous know-it-alls in a warm fellowship of those who see themselves as fighting on the side of the angels against the forces of evil. It is a lofty role that they are not about to give up for anything so mundane as facts-- or even the lives of other people.

Murder is a cultural thing. And in a society without the "Free" Press, like UK, there is an awful lot that is not newsworthy says the Crown.

The politicians get support by making people think they can legislate violence from our society. (maybe they think they can, you don't have to be intelligent to be a politician, just deceptive)

I think we need to accept it and invest in a capable mental health system because the jails aren't doing a very good job. (not that they were designed to do so. But it's where the crazies ares sent.)

Next time I pass one of these, Im gonna strap the 10mm into my leg rig and walk in to get a cup of coffee. What an asinine thing to request of your customers "Please don't exercise your constitutional rights in our store."

And Im not gonna leave a tip, isn't that shit like 10 bucks a cup anyway? Do they even sell regular coffee there, or do I need a curious friend along to help with the order?

I believe even in the old west, the sheriff would collect firearms of visitors, to ne returned when they left. We commonly and temporarily relinquish some of our rights when visiting anothers
establishment, or are all others rights secondary to your right to keep and bear.

NOPE

The a few of the Cow Towns like Wichita and Dodge City (both in KANSAS, not the west) had local ordinances prohibiting drovers from carrying arms in public.
The drovers were a rowdy bunch, much prone to fights, who came in with the cattle drives from the Actual West, stayed for a few days then went back.
These local ordinances had almost no effect in stopping the "violence" of the "Cowboys", since as everyone is already well aware, they preferred punching to popping off rounds, and as those of a criminal bent do not follow the laws anyhow. Criminals continued to carry arms even in Wichita and Dodge city despite these ordinances. (also note, the second ammendment at the time was viewed as a bar to congressional action, not state or local laws...)

as sherrif of Tombstone AZ, Wyat Earp attempted to institute a ban on carrying arms, and it FAILED miserably. it is also interesting to note that Earp was a criminal himself, he wore a badge only as one more hustle in a long line of shady dealings and criminal enterprises.

the next great "advance" in gun control was New York's Sullivan Laws. Pushed forward by "Big Tim" sullivan, notoriously corrupt politician and gangster (seriously, he was the leader of the Irish gangs in the 5 points region of New York before discovering that politics wasnt so different from The Rackets) f the Tammany Hall era of New York politics. the laws were written and passed, NOT to protect the public from armed gangsters but BY the gangster to protect THEM from armed citizens.

in the early 20th century gentlemen always went about armed, knives, daggers, sword canes, shillelaghs, pocket pistols, etc were as common as dirt. unfortunately this mean that when the mobs went about "Unionizing" the dockworkers (whether they liked it or not) their faced the real possibility of "Workplace Violence" as they threatened, roughed up or attempted to intimidate the dock workers.

more than a few "Union Organizers" (see figure 1) got themselves a serious case of Lead Poisoning while "encouraging" reluctant longshoremen to join their union.

Figure 1

After the pasage of the Sullivan Act, "Workplace Violence" was greatly reduced for the gangsters and union thugs, but the hazard of being found floating in the river greatly increased for everyone else.
100 years later and not a thing has changed, criminals still carry guns at their whim, and law abiding citizens are at the mercy of any thug, gangster of street mutt who fells the desire to engage in crime.
New York New York, the city that never sleeps, because it is terrified of it's criminal element.

get it right or save the bullshit.

You may be right, but it IS funny that whenever guns are discussed we then - and usually only then decry the ineffectiveness of laws. If criminals don't obey laws, then why are there any at all?

You may be right, I am only going by the movies. But it is funny that mostly the only time folks decry the ineffectiveness of laws is when it comes to guns. Gun laws are not the only laws criminals seem to ignore, yet we still have and continue to pass more laws of every sort.

laws must be judged based on a cost/benefit ratio.

laws against murder have proved largely ineffective, yet the benefit of making murder a crime far outweighs the costs of "legalizing' homicide (see somalia, pol pot's cambodia, cartel country in colombia, zeta territory in mexico etc)

conversely, prohibition of alcohol in the 20's didnt even slow down boozing, it merely increased the profit margin and upped the violence level, thus this law cost far more than it saved and was summarily repealed.

likewise, prohibiting guns does not prevent criminals from owning guns, it merely ensures that the criminals will be far safer in their endeavours than they would be in a place where anyone might be packing. this is why robberies of Gun Stores and Gun Shows are so uncommon.

bad laws should be dismantled.

would you argue that cannabis prohibition is just not prosecuted hard enough, and with more money for enforcement, the feds could stamp out weed forever...

In the old days, everyone was armed. And the stupidity of Numb Nuts, began as you point out, by some few Sheriffs attempting to quell the open carry of the new Colt Navy revolver. That revolver was very rare, and was essentially a muzzle loader of the cylinders.

That set the rather slim precedence, that is still snowballing, but in those days, it was about the misuse of a tool under the influence.

In the Czech Republic is the opposite. All have concealed hand guns. The law is you may not show or brandish it. It can't fall out of your pants, etc. That is the same as an unlawful discharge.

Very polite society.
