What state are you in?
I know in california (where weed flows like water in a river) 10$ a gram for some decent stuff is normal to me. Should be fine man, it seems you are kinda new to Cannabis?
Don't get too caught up in all that weight if you are so new, just enjoy it man, .6 grams for 10$ is fine

Not excessive in today's U.S. market.
If you're gonna get into smoking/buying weed, and have a job/money, you should be able to save dough by seeking 1/8th ozs (3 and 1/2gms) currently $50 in the Northern Rockies.
You'd pay 70 at $10 per .6/ I suspect the "dealer" scale said .5gm?

Now lets look at some price breakdowns based on 3 levels of quality.... lets call them
Shitty = $200 / oz.
Mids = $300 / oz.
The Bomb!! = $400 / oz.
(This is NOT a debate about what you pay for an oz., this is for demonstration purposes only. Using a $100 difference between each level of quality)
OK... here's how it breaks down:

On the OTHER hand... if it turns out to be shitty weed.... which should have only run you $4.23 for the .6 grams.... then I'd be irritated that a friend took advantage of your noobiness and recommend you find a new friend

5 g - $60
7 g (quarter oz) - $80
1/2 oz - $120 to $140 depending on how dank
oz - usually $240 - $250
only shit thats more expensive is what comes up from california...

Supply and demand..... if you can get it on every corner in your town then dealers will drop their prices to compete with other dealers. If however you are in a town where there is only one place to buy it and lots of people buying... the price goes up.
Since it's not legal it can't be regulated.... it's all about supply and demand

$40 = 7 grams (quarter oz)

not everywhere and everyone has the same connections and flow of bud around them. so you cant really say to much about what he's getting for 10 bucks. but in time people find people. and you find all of the good hookups. just ask around man.

once you can msg send me a MSG i'm from MA too. that does seem pretty expensive unless what your getting is TOP NOTCH. i usually pay 5 for .5, 10 for 1g, 20 for 2.5 and 8th for 30. thats for mids
