my favorite side arm, can't beat simplicity and effectiveness

I have several, but I bought or traded for them, none means the same to me as yours does to you doublejj. but to perfex...effective yes, dependable yes, simple no. I went simple for my conceal carry ... a ultra lite , hammerless, snub nose 5 shot .38...just pull the trigger ..no safety .. no nothing, just bang. just my 2 cents ...the 1911s are great weapons but are antiquated. imho sir............. now lets fuss over caliber..lol

I can't argue with that. The old .45 hangs on my back porch under my coat. Mostly I carry this stainless S&W mod60 .38 I prefer wad cutters....they punch a nice clean hole all the way thru, like a paper hole punch.......hard to stop the bleeding........if I'm forced to shoot somebody, I want them to know it!........

This year's moose season worked out rather well.
Early in the hunt I spotted a wolf on the tundra but he was apparently smarter than I ! After hitting my predator call he came a few steps in my direction (from around 800 yds), but quickly wheeled & headed out of the country.
56" bull & we came away with around 750 lbs of boned out pure meat. :weed:

One thing this trip taught me was that biscuits and gravy (Jimmy Deans, milk, spices & flour) are not just for breakfast anymore.
I didn't have a big enough pan to make the biscuits, but scrounged up an old aluminum one that has been hanging/laying around the camp for years. The porcupines love chewing on the aluminum for some reason & after a bit of scrubbing it became our biscuit maker.

Somebody hit a cow on the Glenn between Eagle River and Anchorage this past week. ...and there wasn't even any snow/ice on the road. This place is crawling with the worst, most aggressive drivers I've ever seen.

no doubt, but sometimes those fawkers run straight at ya.

Got a hunting implement request from a good friend so here she is:

30-06 Ackley improved in a Springfield A3-03 match action - Bell & Carlson synthetic stock w/ a 3-10 Swarovski.
I only shoot 180 gr Partitions that I have to handload of course.
A wicked weapon with great long range potential if I do my part.
The lables on the side of the stock are bullet drop charts at specific ranges.

Consistent hits @ 600 + yds are not that tough with an accurate range finder, good rest, breathing & trigger control.

This is my Brown Precision Kevlar 30/06. Custom built by Chet Brown, before his son took over. Ruger action with free floated Shilen match grade barrel, Leopold 2x7 compact scope. 1"MOA at 200yds.........same rifle that killed this bear 40 years ago............:eyesmoke:.....

My Walther .177 rat getter. Shot 2 chicken coop raiders early in the morning. 2 shots 2 kills, keeps my shooting eye sharp. 2013 body count = 26 confirmed, 10-12 probable. Mali checking them to make sure they are dead...;-)....
