It's probably the new e-papillion or gavita. And YES they are worth it, not only from the quality and yield improvments but, you save money on not replacing bulbs.
You can get the gavita's for 450'ish and the e-paps for around 560 online.

I have not used them yet but, I have spoke with many people who love them and have seen their pictures. I will be using them
from here on out. A 600 will light up a 4x4 with ease. 1k's for 5x5 or 5x6. I saw pictures of 12 under a 600 vegged for 12 or 14 day's
yield over 1gpw. There are quite a few finished journals around on other sites.

These were the beds I was referring to. 4x4 beds under 600's, 12 or 16 plants vegged for 12 or 14 days. He hit over a gpw with some small yeilders.


Let me know what prices the guy is offering.

600 watt hortiux high out put 120 dollar bulb vs 1000 watt cheap sun pulse 30 dollar bulb. I get almost double the yield from the 600 watts ! need I say more ? spend the extra cash you will be repaid at harvest. for mh bubls I used to use a sunmaster 1000 watt they would not grow any bigger then 3 feet tall . for 2 week no new growth. Houston we have a problem . I go out buy a 220 dollar hortilux 7200k mh 1000 watts . yeah its a lot of money . the bulb is 5 times the size. the plants grew ( three ) inches the first 12 hours and another 3 inches in 2 days ! you get what you pay for. now there is a web site that reviews bulbs to see what one is the best. hotilux # 1 # 2 was digilux # 3 was usher I think the name was # 4 sun master

They have been big in EU for a while now, I saw a journal a while ago where the guy had two 600's and a 300w plasma hit 1.6 gpw in a tent
with like 5 plants or something crazy. There is a guy wazup? that works for them and will answer any question. he knows his shit.

I am aware the person with those gardens would kick ass with most lights on the market. lol.
Those are nice pics though. I'm going to call up there at noon and see what it was they were looking at.

I agree, the guy could do damage with two flash lights and some dissolved multivitamins for nutrients.


If the local guy is above 460 check out grow light express. Shipping is not to bad.

OK. I called green finger garden supply in st ignace.
He said it the light isn't a gavida.
It's a gavida hood ($100 ea) with a Ushio high-lux double-ended bulb. (or something along those lines.)
He says the gavidas are 400 volt and these others run off reg. 1000w ballasts.
He says the bulbs retail at about $170 and he can do them for me at $130.
I keep repeating he says....
He says with the gavida hoods and those bulbs you need to be 38 inches above the plant cuz they are so fucking bright.
They have brand new AC/DC hoods that are air cooled. That cost about $320 apiece and $250 for me, buying a few.
With those hoods they are great at cooling the bulb and the plants can me more like 16" off the plants.
He told me several times the gavida hoods are fantastic for the price.
I haven't researched any of this at all. But he will have two sets for me on Wednesday in the Menominee store.
He said there are a few other brands that are a little cheaper for the bulbs, but I am not really interested in those.
So it's looking at close to $800 for 2 ushio high-lux double ended bulbs in 2 of the ac/dc air cooled hoods.
These are brand new on the market, sunlight is the distributor.
Now maybe I should look some shit up, eh.

Glad- remember back a year or so ago you were looking at mini-splits? I'm planning my new room so I was listening. The desire not to have a mini-split was what led me to LED. They are cool operators, and just now becoming reasonable for large production. I cheat and use cheap Halogen 30W to supplement a shit ton of red for flower.

Runs cool and cheap, as they turn much more of the current into light, rather than heat + light. I'm building multiple small panels rather than a single large light source overhead. Put light right where you need it.

Cost has dropped, technology has exploded. Something to at least be aware of.

I always thought they were too expensive. These I can still run off my lumateks.
What is the cost of a LED that compares to a 1000w hortilux bulb?

Gavita and e-pap both use the same greentech lighting from phillips. The e-pap looks like the reflector was designed for
green houses with a really wide footprint. Gavita is more for indoor uses. Ushio makes good stuff, I just want to save money
by not getting bent over for bulbs every other run. You get 416 days of 12/12 lighting with 95% efficiency. For me that saves
around 500$ a year on bulbs.
