PH ing your water is way more important than you think. My first grow I didnt realize that my nutes had a PH balancing effect and I killed two plants in a hurry before I figured out what was going on.Live learn

i use vinegar to bring the ph down and my ph up is from general hydroponics and i only use ten drops to bring it to 6.5 from 4
what kind of ph up do you use?
acidic soil will produce males btw

I am running fox farms and ph before I put in the nutes all my plants seem to be thriving.
why would you ph before you add nutes, especially fox farms stuff as they tend to drop the ph by a pretty big percentage ime.. when i used ff, i'd see about a drop in ph by 2 numbers or so..

Yep.. you want to adjust the pH of your nutrient solution.. not add your nutrients to acidic water.

Mix your nutrients with your water and THEN adjust the pH of the mixture.. your going to cause problems by using excessive pH up and down if you do it any other way.. and costing yourself money on them for no reason.

If your water starts at pH 7 then after adding nutrients it will come down to a bit, how much depends on your nutrients, leaving you much closer to the range you desire! Then you can add SMALL amounts of pH up and down to get where you want.

DON'T PH THE WATER FIRST! EVERY NEWBIE NEEDS TO READ THIS!

PH is very important, because not all the nutes can be absorbed at different PH levels thats why they tell you to shoot for certain levels so that you can maximize your nute intake into the plant

yes PH is important....
Yep, that's why God put things in the soil to ensure the Ph stays where the plant can get what it needs.

It's an incredibly enlightening thread.

Hey op. I get what you mean, a drop of ph down is the same as a few drops of ph up.

Found that to get it to work better the drops should be mixed with a small amount of water, then this water is used to adjust ph. If you get me. Also i have switched to potassium silicate for my ph up. I add 2ml to 10ml of water then use that to adjust my ph. The silicon is much more effective than the ph up i found.

Also i have tried using other adjusters, e.g vinegar, and found its effects where only temporay, and you had to use alot to move it 0.5ph. Also when using baking soda you are adding sodium to your feed, which is fine below 20ppm,(infact could boost yeilds but is very easy to over do. )but i would personally not be adding sodium to my plant at all. Im sure it also competes/blocks uptake of other elements.

Anyhow, take it easy.
