2 blue dreams and a couple questions

Hey everyone, so I have 2 blue dreams. They are both 30 days today from seed. I fed one of them too early and nute burned her. The other is being fed, but I waited a little while before feeding. I started lst on both of them, but they weren't getting enough light so untied them. They are in FFOF and being fed super thrive. Because I lstd them and FiMd, side growth was induced pretty well. I also trimmed off all the original fan leaves because they were blocking light getting to the rest of the growth. I have them both under 88w total of fluoro, 2 20w cfls and a 2' 2 lamp t5. All my bulbs are 2700k. My question is, do they seem a bit small for being 30 days old? I know I probably shocked them a bit when I trimmed them, and they are still growing well, I just think they are a little small for their age. What do to think?

To answer your question , if you think they are small for 30 days, "YES"
Need more light ! Maybe, add some 6500 k CFLs?;-)

You def need higher kelvin as stated above 6500 is a good number fan leaves are important I would not trim them much and if so do a couple a week. They hold nitrogen etc in fan leaves. More light the bigger the better

Let those little plants grow before you start lst and top/fiming. Those things at barely 2-3" tall I would always let my seed plants grow to at least 7-10" before starting any training. Also get those cfls like an inch from the plant. Move them around if you have to to try and surround the plant with them. Your not using hids so there no reason to have them like a Foot away

First off blue dream is a light feeder (from clone) second ffof is somewhat hot so if you are feeding them before the soil runs out of juice it could very well be causing you issues, and last is blue dream does start off slow in veg so just be patient.Judging by the looks of your pics they are not happy and look burnt or some type of lock out is going on.I would feed nothing but plain water.

i have been growing blue dream for a while now and got it pretty dialed in.Easy way to grow it is if you use bagged commercial soil I would start in light warrior clone/seed then transplant to solo cup with happy frog and last transplant into 2-3 gallon pot with ocean forest.Unless you are growing monster plants you should be able to go all the way to harvest with just water.

Thanks everyone for the replies. This surly isn't my first grow, I'm not physically doing anything out of my usual. But this is new strain, new food and new soil. First time with all of these. I usually don't have to feed until flower, but I got a little carried away with this grow I guess. I know I need more light as well. Money is a huge factor right now, but I love growing, so I am cool with giving it a to this time with what I have. Wish I had more, but I don't. I'm going to stop the feeding all together, the one is really burnt. I fed we really lightly at like 2 weeks or something stupid like that. But the other just started feeding last water cycle. Well, I'll stick with water and no trimming or training or anything. Right now I have the lights about 4" or so away. I was trying to induce just little stretch, and the side growth is coming in nicely on both. I think I have about 6 tops per plant right now from when I tied them down. They are untied now. Again, thanks to everyone for the replies. This strain is touchy.

I transplanted one into a larger cup, by looking at those roots, I'm sure the other is ready as well. I just need to get another container. Probably tomorrow. Once I finish this grow I'm getting some better equipment. I've never gone this bare minimum before.

The blue dream strain I grow gets about 30" in 21 days and its a hell of a big eater. Lots of laterals from the start. I grew some HSO BD seeds last run and they didn't even look like my BD strain. They stayed small and grew very slow.

Maybe I have an HSO Blue Dream growing right now then ?... I was told it was just Blue Dream, but your experience with the strain is much different than what I'm dealing with. Mine has plaemty of laterals growing, but doesnt take well to feeding and is very short and bushy. I induced the side growth early on when i FImd and tied down, but i had hoped she would be taller by Now. I sid the same thing last grow and she ended up a few inches taller by a month old. I have now downsized to the one better looking BD, so I now have all 88w of fluoro focused on one plant. I took the other BD and the Alien OG I had out of the box, and put them on my fridge where they get T8 lighting almost all day and some natural light for a couple hours a day. The light is pretty far away, may e 18" or so, but I don't have the heart to kill 2 healthy plants, I just don't have the room for them in my box. The BD in my closet is looking really green and healthy, I'll keep her in the same cup until I throw her into flower, then I have a 9" pot to put her in. Now that I'm down to one plant she should grow faster with all the light focused on her. But if she turns he on me, I have the other BD and the Alien Og in a dorment-ish state, I can always re recruit one of them. Here is a pic of the two on my fridge next to a 2 month old Avacodo pit I've been trying to grow. :):) happy growing everyone!!

p.s. I wish I knew how to flip my photos before uploading (doing it from my iPhone) I've tried every way with my phone and they are either 90* off or 180* off

I wish we lived closer together I would love to try the alien Og and have really god BD strain. Its got a really strong blueberry smell with a deep haze smoke favor. The girl that I got the BD from gets 2 1/2 to 3 LBS per 1000 watt. I'm not quite there yet still at 1 1/2 per 1000. How come you don't run a 400 or 600 watt lamp? is it not legal down your way?

They do seem a little small. I'll post a couple pics of mine at about 3 1/2 weeks (in an aeroponic setup tho, which gets way faster growth than my soil). The tall one on the left is hso blue dream.

Fwiw tho, they can easily get stunned early on (the beginning of a plants life is a critical period, and slowed growth early on can severely affect size. The blue dream actually is 3-4 days younger than the other 3 plants, but was the only one that didn't get shocked when I first put them I'm the system and it wound IP passing the other ones quick, I'm a matter of days, and they haven't been able to catch up since.

I would still be using my 400w mh with an hps conversion bulb if I still had it. I had to give all of my equipment away when I moved back to Cali from Colorado. Bummer for sure. If I had the money I would go but anoth 400w lamp. They are perfect for closet grows like what I have. They don't get too hot as long as a fan is blowing on the bulb. It's not legal down here if you have a med card. But I think I'm going to be moving back to Colorado next summer, and my buddy out there has some mothers he wants me to test some clones for him. And it's 6 plant max out there per adult without a card, so I'll be getting another good setup together once I get out there. It's kinda cool having these little ones with minimum light, they are like little pigmy plants. :D

Those are some really nice looking plants you have there! I think I am going to do a Hempy grow next run. I don't like all the timers and pumps with dwc and ebb n flo. But I like the growth rate of hydro, so hempy is what it's gonna be.

Yeah, I've been loving the aero setup, and how fast the growth is and everything, I just hope i get as good of results as I have with my organic soil grows (roots organic nutes and fox farms). I tell you what tho, I gave some of my botanicare nutes to my soil plants the other day, and they exploded with pistils over night so I'm interested to start switching things up. Definitely interested in doing a Hempy run, I use smart pots and was thinking of using a hydroton and coco coir mix. The only problem is, I need to figure out how to get my drainage under control. I'm toying around with using small totes in my tent, like 6 inches high and setting the plants in so that when I water I don't have to worry about runoff. There's a member here, Letsgetcritical who hasn't been growing too long and has great results with Hempy.

ya everything i have seen and read about hempy makes me want to give it a try. ive never tried hydro (passive or non) but i like the results everyone has. the growth rate compared to soil is just stupid good. i think i am going to try the perlite vermeculite mix, unless here is a better hempy medium, then ill try that. but its just not my thing to have all the pumps and timers. and cleaning and checking the res in dwc and other methods. i like hand watering anyways. gives me a reason to check the progress!

Lets get critical does have some nice shit and hes a good person he would answer questions about hempy grows for sure hes a good guy we shoot the shit alot back and forth he is aussie country so the timing thing is key

ok cool, ill try and reach him. thanx for that.

im really hoping this BD i have grows out alright. she is the only one now under 88w, and she seems to like being alone. she is nice and lush green. the side growths are getting longer. she is still short, and i lightly tied dowwn a couple of the arms to open up the top, i have 2 heads coming in from my FIM job (i guess it was an unsuccessful FIM but a successful top. so im hoping she starts to shot off. at this rate itll be another month befor she is ready for flower. ill post pics later.
