Hey, not sure about MI laws but here in oregon, I moved from Ohio here after i finally got my settlement, took my doctors records (6 months worth) and $200 dollars to a mama's clinic, got approved that day, went to a post office sent out my paper work with one of those green registered mail receipts and i was legal that day, i even used my Ohio DL, and did not switch over, I am pretty sure MI is alot like OR rules, but not 100%, see if you can find a mama clinic in operation out there, and call, they will fill ya in.
