i'm not sure about the clearex, i've never used it. i do understand your dilemma though, been there myself more than once. it's kinda hit or miss either way. if your plants are still really green then i would just let then go with plain water. if they are fading in color some food may help, but there may not be enough time left for it to "kick in". kind of a tough situation to be in.
