Expat NZ grower & breeder. I moved to Cambodia four years ago, after founding Monkey Puzzle Genetics in N.Z as a sideline to commercial cultivation, marketing strains bred over 40 years in the growing business. I've always worked with Living Soil/Biodynamics & started studying Cannabis genetics in my early 20's. Now, living in the heart of S.E Asia, I collect, preserve & work with local farmers on many fronts. As a result of my extensive networking with this side of Cambodian culture, I've been able to access heritage strains that are virtually unattainable to outsiders. Some of these strains I've been permitted to on-sell by farmers either as payment for services rendered, or by direct purchase with full transparency they'll be offered to other growers worldwide. Cambodia was once one of the S.E Asian legends of Asian landrace Cannabis, however the tragic pogroms of the 1970's under the Khmer Rouge & the butcher Pol Pot, set the nation's development back until recent years. Now that tourism has again attracted stoners from around the world, farmers are in competition with countries like Thailand. While the heirloom strains of the Kingdom still remain unpolluted by Western hybrid genes, I am collecting & documenting as many as I can. There is a very diverse range of genotypes that match the extremes of the climate here; while they are all Sativa in origin, many strains here have evolved Indica type traits. The State Tourism Board calls Cambodia "The Kingdom of Wonder" & when it comes to the varieties & culture surrounding the country's long association with Cannabis Sativa, I couldn't think of a better way to describe it myself.
