We are a film crew that was assembled because of the US v Duval case. This case was was about Jeremy and Jerry Lee Duval. These men were caregivers licensed by the state of Michigan. Medical Marijuana has been legal in the State of Michigan since the MMMA (Michigan Medical Marihuana Act) was enacted by Michigan voters on November 4, 2008. Even though Jeremy and Jerry Lee were in complete compliance with Michigan's Medical Marijuana laws, the DEA wrongfully busted them for growing marijuana. Before the DEA busted them, the Monroe County Sheriff's department came out multiple times to check if they were in complete compliance with state laws and approved them. What the Duvals didn't realize was that the Monroe County Sheriff's department has a program called, "Operation HEMP," which stands for, "Help Eliminate Marijuana Planting Unit." this program was started back in 1983 with the Michigan's State Police and is completely funded by the DEA. Not only are police officers approving caregivers, but they are busting them for the very thing they approved them for. This is a complete infringement of our rights as citizens and borderline entrapment. After being busted, Jeremy and Jerry Lee Duval pleaded "Not Guilty" and proceeded to having a brutal two week trial. They were both found guilty on April 20, 2012; Jeremy was sentenced to 5 years mandatory and Jerry Lee was sentenced to 10 years. There are very few caregivers that have actually declined a plea bargain and taken on the Federal government head-to-head. These brave men are standing up to the federal government for caregivers nationwide. The beauty of them not taking a plea bargain is that they can appeal to a higher federal court. They are currently trying to appeal their case and hopefully will make it to the Supreme Court. If they have enough support and publicity, they could make history; ending the prohibition of marijuana on a federal level. The goal of the Prisoners of the Marijuana War or POMW is to raise $25,000 so that we can make a documentary about the US v Duval case and interview other caregivers around the country. We want to publicize the wrong doing of the federal government and hopefully end the prohibition of marijuana federally. These people can't fight, so we are here on the front lines to fight for them. Please help us by donating to our link below and sharing our YouTube listed below. With the support of the people, we can make a difference for these brave people.
