This project is in it's infant stages. I am seeking an energy independent low maintenance grow room. I want to make it self-reliant and easily replicated. It should produce high quality medical grade cannabis with as few unnatural products as possible, consistently year-round.
My hope is to help people with various restrictions to successfully cultivate their own natural medicine while minimizing the foot-print of the cannabis they produce.
My plan:
Special attention is being paid to energy consumption at every step. The overall goal is to eventually take this project off the grid. Long term I hope to be able to live and grow off the grid.
Extreme budget restrictions are present. Every investment in this project should be a necessary and permanent solution to overcoming specific restrictions.
Currently I am going to be maintaining plants for a friend as I am unable to grow at home.
I work long hours and I have little time for maintenance. This unique situation requires certain equipment for automation. Advice is appreciated on technologies that are reliable and cost effective.
Space: 5'x5'x7' grow tent.
Lights: 2x Mars 600w rated (300 actual draw) LEDs
1x MarsII 700w (350w actual draw) LEDs
Light cycle: 20/4 (auto flower)
Soil: FFOF/ Mass Roots 707 blend. (Open to suggestions)
Seeking a soil that needs little to no supplements to produce high quality natural medicine. Eventually would like to use sub cool's soil mix. (Space to cook and mix soil is an issue.)
In order to maintain both root health and room humidity I plan to use a Mist King misting pump hooked to a 30gal resevoir. It is not an aeroponics project. I plan to simply mount the nozzles just above the soil. The humidity here is naturally about 20% humidity. As the plants need less humidity I plan to cover the pots with plastic while still using the misting nozzles to maintain root environment.
Nutrients: I am considering using live goldfish in the resevoir as a source of nitrates. Hopefully the fish paired with the natural soil will prove further supplementation unnecessary. As the project grows talapia and other meat fish could be used.

Temp control: I have an indoor ac unit for use when necessary. I am currently using flex ducts to connect exhaust fans from the carbon filter to the window. Passive intake of cold air is also present.
To this point I have most of the equipment for an on grid system.
Research on affordable solar options and small DIY windmills is underway. Advice on affordable and effective equipment, brands, sources, or diagrams would be greatly appreciated.
