I have been growing outdoors in New England for many years with predictably varied results. The last 2 years i have tried growing indoors with store bought seeds and the results have been better - though not without problems. I was advised to use T5 HO flourescent fixtures as the area is small and heat a problem. It is not commercial.
So, i have (2) 2' x 4' fixtures each with 6 54Watt bulbs and switch between 6500K bulbs for growth and 2700K bulbs for flowering. The lights seem to be adequate and i need to keep them about 15" above the top of plants or the top leaves burn. Nobody but nobody in this forum talks about flourescent fixtures. Was I given bad advice or is it reasonable to stick with these fixtures to grow a half dozen plants.
My real question is about ventilation but first I want to know if people think using these fixtures is bogus or adequate in a simple, non-commercial environment.
