  • Hey glad to see your still around here. Are you still using hid fixtures or have you transitioned to led?

Hi mate, better than that – I now design LED lighting that is manufactured locally by Grow Lights Australia. Check out my Paradise Seeds thread link in my signature to see what I've been up to. Good to see you, too, mate.
    Hey Prawn Connery,

I was wondering if you could give me some advice on doing wall to wall boards in a 5x5 tent? What do you recommend? Thanks for your time.

Probably around 20. 16 may do well enough. That's my eventual plan in my 4x4. Dimensions are on HLG website

I should clarify that they come in 4 packs. So around $600 for panels and about $250 for drivers, connectors, and frame

Depends what boards you use. High Lights are 1.5x bigger than Quantum Boards.
good to see you're still around PC, i remember you from the old overgrow days about 20 years ago.
just wanted to say hello...my old handles were viper, pitviper on quite a few long defunct forums.
    remember the sharks tank?
    2 x qb324 with what driver?

Deciding to build 4 in total, can you help me out

The QB324 V2 is a completely different board to the V1. It is not as powerful, has no CRI90, and is a different spectrum. They're not strictly a 54V board, either - more like 52V. So you could technically run a HLG-240H-48A with two boards in parallel and get close to 300W.
Hate to be a bother but I can't to see any mention of what your veg times usually are in your perpetual harvest now. Pulling nearly 1gpw with strips in ____ weeks of veg has me curious!

Hey mate, about six weeks. Two weeks to clone, six weeks until my eight-week strains are ready for harvest - easy maths! But they usually get a bit big after six weeks, so I often trim them back a bit (or slow them down with weaker light and nutes).

I also take a nice clone off the top of each plant before I put them into flower. For my set-up, 3-4 weeks of veg is plenty. But what else am I going to do with the extra time?
Me again, 324s have been discontinued.. whats my best option for a 5x5? HLG600 or 2 x 288V2 triples or do I look at 304s?

Are you in the US or elsewhere? Might depend where you are, as there are other options to HLG boards.

Two triples would work, but I'd run a bigger driver. We run 40-50W/sqft for all our rooms, so 24W/sqft isn't much for a 5x5. You should ask these question on the forum, I can't really answer in 420 characters or less.
On ya bud, looks like I will just buy 2 kits of doubles then. Do you think the 324s will be ok to veg for 4 weeks prior to flip? Hoping this will be equivalent to a DE 1000w HPS or close anyway.

It's a myth you need 5000+K to veg. More red actually yields more bio-mass, all other things being equal, but at the cost of slightly longer nodes. You won't have any issues vegging under 3000K.

4x QB324s running at 175W each should easily replace a 1000DE HPS, not least because they will give a better spread of light. We were running 600W DEs and 2xQB324s running at 400W have equaled them in yield.
Hey Cob, wondering if I can pick your brains, what driver would you reco to run 4 x 324 boards. I would like to fit 4 of these boards to the HLG600 kit instead of the V2 288 and run them off the HLG-600-54B driver - will this work? Ideally I want to be able to run these 4 boards off one driver with an external pot.

You can't use that driver on the QB324 boards, as they are 108V. We are running a HLG-480H-C2100A for two boards wired in series, dialed back to about 1.85A for 400W total. That is the biggest HLG CC driver you can use.

IMO, you'd be better off buying two HLG-320H-C1400 drivers for each pair of boards and driving them two in series off each driver. That would give you 700+W potential, or just over 175W per board.
Hey bro just new here . Saw a post about seeds as I've had no luck where I live can you private message here as I have a question bout a technique cheers
I just read your haze grow and it rocks.nice job.I was wondering if u could help me out I pretty much just set up the same set up,I switched from horizontal to vert and went bare bulb 2x600 in a 4.5'x4.5'x6.0' box and my temps are at 86 to 88 lights on.and I was wondering how big your exhaust fan is?I am running a 6" 440 cfm fan and the only difference between mine and yours that I can see is that I have my carbon filter attached to mine on the ceiling above the bulbs.could u please help me cool down my grow without using cooltubes?thx
