The rack that I used on the papaya was about three inches above the pot. None of the back branches got to tall. A few of them did get pretty close tho. On this grow I am planning on topping all of the bottom shoots when they first come through the rack. STAY HIGH!!!
p.s. You can always do some super cropping to re angle some of your tops that way they arent so close to your bulbs.

How many plants are you planning on growing in your area. I would prolly recommend to grow 2 plant with the biggest pots you can fit. Then I would start to do a scrog. The reason I would do two is because you would be able to get away with a short veg time and still will be able to fill the scrog net. As for lights I would try to get something low profile like a t5 or something like that. That way if they ever get to tall your lights aren't taking up 8in of usable space. Hope this helps you.
