    i used an active aqua 1000gph submersible pump. it works as well as long as you dont have to pump the water higher than 12ft (mine goes up stairs) i wouldn'[t have minded an even more powerful pump though it works well and saves me a lot of time.

    im using a 1/2 inch pvc hose with an adapter from home depot on the end that connects to the valve. the pump has a regular connection for a garden hose but i have yet to try it out.

    the trick is to use hose clamps and BLACK O RINGS to make sure every thing is 100 pecent leak free.
