    Light Intensity; LED vs HID

plants counting and weighted the length of a day; - time calculation to start flowering. they also count and weighted the red/far red ratio. they make logical decision about the spectrum; - standing in the shade or is this a sunny place these are all forms of simple math!

    Are cobs worth it?

the Answer sits in this table... 15% powerloss in the IR range and the rest can be calculated in the other parts of the spectrum. 10% more eff. in the orange/red part.. and so on nope... about 950 mA from my calculation, all in series.

    Phosphor conversion based LED limit......

according to the Cree PCT the Xte royalblau (25°C -/- 100mA), the highest bin reaches 72% phosphor loss is about 15% for high CCT and low CRI., and goes down to 35% for lower CCT and higher CRI. for royal blue and photo red Lumen is here milli Watt!

    ...All Things Vero...

at 50 Watt the vero29 has a temp-lift of 0.08x50= 4°C the 1212 at the same watts has temp-lift of 0.34x50=17°C the Cree cobs stay in the same range as the vero and nichia is like citizen on thermal resistance they maybe cheap but you have to pay for better heatsink to get the same junction...

    ...All Things Vero...

and let me also mention the different Thermal Resistances from Junction to Case (o.o8 for the vero29) against (0.34 for the 1212). so the Heatsink will stay cooler for the 1212.
