I defoliate from veg right to the end. Heavier in week 2-3 of flower, opening up to create light. Also helps with air movement to prevent bud rot. Here’s mine, 29 days in flower. Did some defoliating last night.

I see a big difference in using MH over HPS for veg. As mentioned above, less stretch with MH, but also thicker, stronger branches. Keep those nodes tight using MH in veg and it will pay off with nice colas when you flower with HPS.
