This isn't really a help thread, how long will seeds take to start hatching?

Good question. Speaking anecdotally, I've had seeds get wet for a few hours, then dry out, and still sprout alright a week or two later. It usually takes a few hours for the water to soak through the seed coat and begin to swell the embryo. That's part of the reason a seed has a thick...

    Flushing tonight! One more week!

Jesus, man, I feel for you. I know someone with similar sensitivities, and it's no fucking walk in the park at all. In light of that, I totally understand why you'd rather be safe than sorry and flush 'em thoroughly. Forgive me if I sounded dismissive earlier. I still say, though, that I don't...

Can someone help me get my nutrients dialed in for my next grow?

Well, I don't agree that combo #2 is way too many bottles at all. It's pretty much what I use, and I'm happy with the result. You got yer A & B, yer zhyme for the roots, yer silica for the stalks, and yer calmag because it's coco, and yer bloom nutes. I use Hygrozyme instead of Rhyzotonic, and I...

Do roots continue to grow in bloom?

I grow in coco, and I use a moderate level of hygrozyme throughout the entire grow, just because.

    Mix Green Paint for floor?

Ah, well... generational thing, I guess. Rocky and Bullwinkle. Boris Badunov and Natasha Whatever-her-name-was were always trying to overthrow western civilization, and Rocky and Bullwinkle were always whompin' em upside their evil commie heads. And Boris and Natasha were always coming up with...

    Plants uptake nutrients at night?

It's generally healthier for your roots if the plants go to bed dry; it allows more oxygen in the root zone overnight. If you water them just before lights out, the medium stays mostly saturated throughout the night, and the roots stay soaked instead of oxygenating.

UV A And UV B In Late Flower

I'll take your educated conjecture over a lot of people's quantifiable data any day of the week. There's an awful lot about the way I grow weed that I can't quantify either, but when Week 10 or Week 12 or Week Whatever rolls around, the weight is there. And I can even explain how I did it, but I...

UV A And UV B In Late Flower

OK, it's no secret that when the talk turns to the technical aspects of lighting, I'm completely in the dark. So forgive the stupid question, but - how is this measured and quantified? Not that I'm doubting you; I just want to know how to find the numbers and learn to read them and (possibly)...

    Mix Green Paint for floor?

Wonder how many people are going to get that one....

    Mix Green Paint for floor?

I hear you. One of my core principles is, "do it right, and you only have to do it once." I always overprepare, because then I have more of a buffer built in when something goes wrong that I didn't prepare for - and you know that's going to happen at some point in every run. There's no such...

Just saw this on Facebook, Never seen a strain like this.(Bullshit?)

I'd be afraid to harvest down in those sewers, because of all the albino alligators that everyone knows are down there.

    Mix Green Paint for floor?

Please don't yell at me, but I would suggest skipping the vinegar and using a flat white paint that is formulated to be mold-resistant. Several companies make such paints; Kilz is one of them. I believe most mold-resistant paints are also formulated to be water-resistant, which is important for...

    Flushing tonight! One more week!

Isn't it too hot in the summertime for strenuous, longterm physical activities like hiking and distance biking? Man, I can't imagine a 10-mile hike in 120 Fahrenheit temps.

Watering when on short holiday, any McGuyver style techniques? Maybe water bottles with pin pricks?

Yeah, it's funny now that it's over, but at the time that I was sneaking around in the woods with frigging 8-pound blocks of ice in a duffel bag, the "one sandwich short of a picnic" reference definitely felt a lot more appropriate! But there was just no other practical way that didn't leave me...

    Flushing tonight! One more week!

Man... not to pour gasoline on a fire, but when I think of how much more bud mass you could be packing onto those plants over the next 2 or 3 weeks (which is how far out they really are) instead of starving them to death for 2 weeks so they're basically dying as they stagger to the finish...

Watering when on short holiday, any McGuyver style techniques? Maybe water bottles with pin pricks?

Yeah, I was thinking that it would drain so slowly, the melt water would probably have plenty of time to warm up to ambient temperature (or close to it) and you won't have to worry about shocking the roots. I remember one outdoor guerilla grow where I used to have haul in water to some of the...

    Light ???

I really appreciate your taking the time to share this with me, because I haven't been able to find anyone in real life with firsthand experience, and the information I've found on the web is sparse and often contradictory. I've read enough of your posts to know what you're about, and have a lot...

Watering when on short holiday, any McGuyver style techniques? Maybe water bottles with pin pricks?

Fuck, why didn't I think of that? That's so much easier than my version. I forgot about the drain plugs in large coolers; a 5/8 or 7/16 hose should fit right onto that.

Watering when on short holiday, any McGuyver style techniques? Maybe water bottles with pin pricks?

Funny you should mention McGyver. The people at my old grow shop always used to call me "McGyver Guy," because of all the off-the-wall engineering schemes I used to come up with. If one of them is reading this thread, I know they'll know who I am, because this is exactly the sort of thing that...

    Light ???

Thank you - yeah, I've seen that one, and have really been tempted, but how do you orient the vertical bulb to cast a uniform footprint on a horizontal canopy? Is it only suited for vertical growing, or is there some special reflector? Did you design your own reflector? That is the Philips bulb...
