Ok $40 shipping DHL for 4x COBs was a little on the steep side, but TBH I am so sick of "China Post". I am often ordering smaller stuff from China, ebay etc. and it always takes a month or more. And not sure whether I'd trust China post for shipments of rather expensive LEDs...

Note that I am not exactly a professional...but.. I THINK (and was told) that 4x CXB3590 (approx 240W total), driving at 1400-1750mA are fine for my 120x60cm (4x3') area. So if you have X plants, look at how big your grow area is...this could be a rough estimate to calculate how many lights...

Do you even need veg switches? Say if you DIY, most of the drivers have dimmers. I figure dimming the thing to about all the way down to 1/2 of amps should serve as a primitive veg switch? (I am assuming that dimming the MW drivers ALSO reduces power draw?) Eg. that MW 1750ma driver, it dims...

Other question: I see in this and related threads that people mixed 3K and 4K LEDs. Were there at some point no 3500k available so people used 3K and 4K (for veg/flower)...means that now it would make more sense just to get the 3500K lights, rather than mixing?

The point here is (looking at various spectral curves) whether "little" blue is really a bad thing. It could well be that, say, a 3000K or 3500K is just "perfect" and that cooler lights with "lots of blue" are actually not even ideal. Of course I haven't tested this. It will likely also depend...
