I'm in the same boat as for trying to find a good light. As of now I have a dimmable 600 watt hps in a xl cooltube. This will be in my garage In 18"x76 closetmaid box I build. I don't know if my light can cover my area and I'm worried about heat.

You don't want to feed until about week 3-4...the autos don't need it....and when you do feed your just giving enough to keep it alive.....1/4.....as for soil....anything can work as long as you add a nice amount of perlite

Try to take them to 10 weeks....if you think I'm crazy chop all at 8 weeks but save one. Let him go for a week or 2 longer....the results will make you cry....the magic happens in the last few days. If you chop a auto when everything is all green you did something wrong....you want the plant...
