with 3-6 weeks of veg most strains get between 200-300% bigger after starting 12/12. But ovverall it depends on strain and flowering time. some sativas have 20x stretch with 20 weeks of flowering :)

personally i prefer photo plats but if you wanna grow autos the best to do is ALWAYS to make your own seeds. Buy a pack of seeds (F1 if possible since least variety) then just make seeds of it. you will get a lot more than 500 seeds and from the genetics of your choice. i really recommend...

only time i ever got light bleach was when i used 1000w HPS in a 3x3x6 area, so i dont think you need to worry about getting too strong light intensity. However like other have said it will be hard for you to use 400 w in such a small space (especially since its so low..) without a cooled hood...
