LT lurker here, want to pick your brains for specific answer without the trolls and grief? :)

Well in truth there isn't a lot of understanding on my part with electrical theory etc., what I am doing is assessing the consensus of the community and leaning on youre experience I have a vga cooler en route for it, TDP is 300 watts, and I guesstimate using no more than 270 watts or so in...

Hm that makes me wonder if i've heard to not power them without a load is simply a safety concern, i'm in no hurry though i'll wait for someone who can tell me specifically why I shouldn't do it and whether or not it could or will damage my cob

So that light seems to be working well, to be honest i've never been interested enough to measure voltage or amp draw and I still have no par meter so I have no idea how much light this thing is actually putting out, but i'll say this, this is the brightest source of light i've ever seen in my...

For one fan, and theyre only rated at .27a which is why i've opted for such a small power supply for them

Here we have a CLU056 4000K with thermal adhesive securing it to a coolermaster 212 evo im going to have to employ a buddy of mine to solder the leads on with my 0 experience and shaky hands theres just no way. If i just pass 12 volts at say 300ma over the + and - leads will it run the fan at...

I'll tell ya what though Doc, in the interest of "helping each other out" i'll share a link a sales rep gave me when they didn't have what I wanted in stock try octopart.com it seems to be a metasearch by manufacturer model name across thousands of distributors. Ive never seen it mentioned here.

Its not about help or not help, its about not having police show up at my door and annoying me :) Wash your hands if you will its irrelevant to me, I would think someone on this site would understand :)

Honestly? i'm kinda leary of you two this kind of thing is still illegal in most places, not the cobs themselves but the usual intended uses for them, but rest assured I have no secret place that any of you couldn't find through a simple google search. With that you shouldn't have any problem...

Ahhh I see, ok well i'm gonna dig through some more power supplies and see if I can find one to run both of these cobs I really dont want to buy another small psu like I did this time and end up compromising again, I thank you CanadianONE youve been quite helpful i'll post again if I find a psu...

I see, so really i'm in no danger of damaging anything if I just wire in one cob to this driver and turn it up checking the voltage and making sure it stays below 54 volts is what i've gained from this conversation I wish I could figure electricity out I guess its like anything else though you...

Ok so looking at this, i'm only going to be able to run one of my cobs at 3250ma and 55.32 volts? that's within the range of my driver I think I dont know though if its a trade-off between voltage and current, which is being adjusted current or voltage? as I turn the pot? Youre being extremely...

Hmm, well that's unfortunate after you asked that I was actually wondering if it would halve the voltage or double it I knew something had to be wrong in my thinking for you to ask that. And i've read that you shouldn't wire them in parallel which would? do exactly the opposite? halve the...

Correct I have two of the CLU056-1825C1-40AL7G4 on order, something else i'm grappling with now is i'm looking at this diagram in the datasheet for my driver and I can't figure out why I need a switch and a relay wired on one lead of the ac side of the driver in order to turn it on and off, is...

Agreed those cobs can definately handle more than my driver can supply, it was the largest driver the distributor I found had in stock without having to wait 2 months for one to ship from china etc. Not switching the driver on without a load I would not have guessed so that was certainly useful...

You are assuming I have any understanding to be able to draw a conclusion from a table of data, and you are wrong lol, i've poured over the datasheets for both of these for days before deciding and somehow I still managed to miss the 125ma being the minimum current required to make the cob turn...

Well I was assuming the dim leads were in series with the power circuit, wouldn't have guessed they were seperate all together does that mean that a PWM is built into the meanwell power supply? appreciate that canadian that was the answer I was looking for I still find it odd though, why when...

And this is why i've hesitated so long to ask questions, I know I cannot run the driver wide-open, you did mention something interesting I didn't realise it was a trade-off between voltage and current, yes I fully understand how to connect a potentiometer to this driver its quite self...

You will not be able to run this driver at 3450ma because it has a maximum output of 54v? I dont understand, the datasheet Im looking at says min 47.8v, typ 52.0 and max 56.2, and perhaps this goes back to my lack of any practical experience but how and why would it pull 56-58 as you say? That...

Here is what i've purchased Meanwell HLG-185H-54B CLU056-1825C1-40AL7G4 X 2 I think I made a mistake because the min current rating for this led is 2250 ma my research leads me to believe that a circuit cannot start with less than the min current rating is that correct? If so i'll order...
