Why not? In all my years growing just about every strain has had its own traits and reacted differently to varying environments.

I'm opinion it only makes a difference if the strain likes it. One strain might have a benefit from the darkness and others may not. Experiment, experiment and do more experiments. And of course, let us know the results.
