The PH on my last plant would drop like that every day or two at one certain stage of the grow cycle. I had to stay on top of it but it survived and turned out great. I'd say if you keep it balanced everyday it will eventually stop dropping as fast as it does now and the plant will be alright.

I use distilled water to germinate then once they've popped, stick them in the bubble bucket with a weak nute solution. I try to keep the nute solution between 5.6-6.2 for my DWC setup.

I've been trying to decide which one to go with also. I think the hanging style will work better for me since I have a place to hang it. The other one would either sit on the floor and be in the way or I'd need a table to put it on and still be in the way.

I try and keep mine between 5.6 and 6.2 and everything works out fine. I like setting mine at the low end then lett it creep towards the top end naturally.

Keep the PH right and don't over feed.
