It also depends on how powerful your lights are. If you're flowering with CFL's, for example, you wouldn't want a six foot plant. Keep in mind your plants will double or triple in height, after they go into flower. Also - you can start 12/12 from seed - but you cannot force the plant to flower...

At that rate, you'll probably see around 25%-30% by the end of the week, and 50% by next weekend. Mine usually let off a whiff about an hour after lights on, too - suprised you're just now getting it. Did you feed them yesterday? That's usually when mine are the worst.

They don't look stretched. The difference is noticable, when you see it - you'll see waaaay too much stem between the nodes. Stretching isn't usually a problem with genetics - it'll be because the light was too far away from them. To solve it, move the light closer.
