only if the ballast is made to run both types of lamps, not all digi ballasts will run both types of lamp, a conversion bulb is the same, a hps to halide conversion must be run in a hps ballast

i think they rock, i havent used one yet but i have 2 600's on the way, i like the whole dimming idea and the fact that it will burn both bulbs is a plus, now i can ditch my 250 mh, but yeah from what i have read they are the hottest ballast on the scene right now

if money is the issue go with a home depot 400 watt bulb instead of a $90 hortilux, i would never suggest running a different size bulb in a ballast

im using a 430 sonagro from phillips, it was like 90 bucks and works killer for veg, 59k lumens you cant go wrong

1k light will do a shit job in an 8x8, thats only like 15 watts per square foor, you need at LEAST 20 per foot for buds, and then they will be only a fraction of what they could be, you really want 50 watts per foot of hps light, more is better but 50 will give very good results, all the specs...

so wait im confused now, so you have those shop halides where the ballast sits on top of the reflector??? if thats the case i suggest you take the ballast off and move it out of the way so you can get more head room, its really easy to do and all you will need to buy is some cord to attach the 2

yeah there sure is, i used to have a grow years back with 7 of the 70 watt street lights that i "found" what you need to do is basicly rewire the whole thing from the ground up and simply leave out the photo period sensor from the loop, if i remember right they have a schematic on the inside...
