    Trichomes & Harvesting

Your plants look healthy but I don't think they're quite there yet. How many amber trichomes would you guesstimate? Based on the pictures and info I'd say about 1-2 weeks left. But some of the pictures look a bit like foxtailing which might mean you're closer to peak harvest than 1-2 weeks...

    Trichomes & Harvesting

I'm glad you found it helpful :leaf: Hopefully your next harvest will be even better than the previous! I'm not sure exactly what you mean about the decrease in water absorption. I haven't spotted this myself, in fact my plants usually get more 'hungry' the older they get.

    Trichomes & Harvesting

What light did you grow this under? I'm sorry but the plants looks very airy in the first, third and fourth pictures, I can hardly see any calyxes apart from the main calyx on the 2nd picture, everything else looks like bunches of pistil groups. If it's been flowering for 10 weeks then it is...

    Trichomes & Harvesting

Good to hear that it's all going well, it's a fair amount for a first harvest I'd say. Especially since the harvest, dry and cure is done properly so you will get the full effect of the strain.

    Harvest time close?

Nutrients aren't stored in the calyxes. The smoke was harsh because you dried the weed improperly. When you dry @ those temperatures you basically ruin the trichomes (and the plant material). Sure you might be able to sense the high and get a feeling of what it might be like for the particular...

    Harvest time close?

Remember that the trichomes will continue to degrade even after harvest. So you don't want to harvest too late (with 15%+ amber) because you will end up with a quite high amount of amber trichomes and a huge loss of potency- It seems like the plant is nearing peak harvest, I would let it go as...

Whack it at the base - WHOLE plant drying

Sounds like the weed got overdried. Do you have a hygrometer? If the moisture inside the buds falls below 55% RH then curing effectively stops and there's no point in leaving the weed in the jars any longer.

    Trichomes & Harvesting

It's very hard to see anything in those pictures. Too light magnification to see trichomes and too high magnification (centering) to see the calyxes as a whole. Of what I can see it looks like you might have some foxtailing, could you possibly take some sections pictures (calyxes top & bottom...

    Trichomes & Harvesting

I see quite a few clear trichomes, a few amber and a few cloudy. I would estimate anything from 2 weeks - 3 weeks left. Don't go with what the seed guy says, no plant follows a prescribed grow period. You should always judge the plant and go by what the plant tells you (read first post of the...

    Trichomes & Harvesting

I assume you've already completed the dry since it's been 4 days since the post you made. But since you have such high RH levels I would let it dry longer than most, you need to be sure that the buds hover around 60-65% RH so you get a proper cure and also eliminate the chances of mold developing.

    60x-100x is best.

Anybody use a food dehydrator for mmj?

Not if you dry the whole plant hanging at once. That way it can easily take 2 weeks to dry the bud properly (if you got decent standard conditions and with average variables). Nobody said you should dry single calyxes for 2 weeks. But drying can (and should) take anywhere from a week to two...

    Weavesilk

The owner of the site posted a link to me, it's a very fun tool to play with. I'm just a bit sad that they don't save the drawings. I lost a very cool one.

Anybody use a food dehydrator for mmj?

You're trying to convince us that after a 3 day dry the weed was perfect and had no issues with taste or anything else, even before curing. I'm not sure how that is possible, either your weed is very airy or you haven't tasted properly cured weed before. People who dry the whole plant usually...

God damn it, I just tried the link again and now the replay is gone. It was a damn cool drawing I made.

Don't you see a "replay" of what I made? If I click the link I see a replay, and if others link to their drawings I see a replay of that.

Anybody use a food dehydrator for mmj?

Honestly he just gave his opinion, and tbf I think he's correct. A proper dry is a slow dry (of around 7-14 days depending on the variables). Use a food dehydrator if you must but it's not a proper way of drying weed nor will it deliver the full potential of the weed.

    Trichomes & Harvesting

Thank you very much for your kind words. Sounds like you got a proper Sativa grow going, I'm getting a bit jealous (my new tent grow is getting setup over the holiday). Sounds like you've got the grow under control, with 60/40 you still got a bit of a journey left on those calyxes, but it...

    Trichomes & Harvesting

Alright, well it sounds like the weed escaped the mold danger. I hope it's all still going to plan.
