Afraid not...But when you do replace it,use Durarock and lay your preferred tile/stone over it... You can use vinyl,just not sure how that would look,may look pretty cool

Ok but light and water cause algae to grow anywhere not only the roots Algae itself doesnt harm the roots unless it gets out of hand I still dont see how roots dont like light....

Where does this "roots dont like light" come from I hear it all the time Light has no effect on roots besides maybe some discoloration

Considering your roots are probably filling that container up That could very likely be your problem The roots will only be able to grab soo much o2 when packed in the pot Maybe try airing it out every day by taking the roots out
