Warm white 2'x2' LED panel using 3,600 5050 (5mmx5mm) LEDs

Heres a few pics of a little in cabinet cloning/seedling area ive been working on as well. This one uses ~50w.

Warm white 2'x2' LED panel using 3,600 5050 (5mmx5mm) LEDs

Theres no reason it wouldnt be adequate for up to 6ft² (50w/ft² assuming 300w output)...

Warm white 2'x2' LED panel using 3,600 5050 (5mmx5mm) LEDs

Almost finished my little SMD project. still needs a little over a dozen red/purple strips and finito. Final specs should be around 240-300w @ 12v. Right now it is just glued to a thin sheet of aluminum, although something a bit more sturdy will likely be added to the backing because the...

growing experiment: vegging one of my plants using a wire frame and a 5050 RGB LED strip light.

Finished product will contain 3,000 warm white diodes and 600 purple/pink (havent decided yet). This is all mounted to a 2'x2' sheet of aluminum. Total weight is about 4lbs and runs at id estimate 80 degrees farenheit without any cooling/heatsink required. should be operational by tomorrow...

growing experiment: vegging one of my plants using a wire frame and a 5050 RGB LED strip light.

They all have 120° beam angle supposedly, i dont know that for certain yet. I just laid out a 5 meter roll of the thicker waterproof stuff and it uses up 3.5" x 24", so 0.7 sq ft and i think this one is 36w, so i could squeeze a bit over 50 watts per sq ft out of this stuff. That would be...

growing experiment: vegging one of my plants using a wire frame and a 5050 RGB LED strip light.

The LEDs come in a bunch of different sizes, which in turn dictate roughly the intensity of the light they emit. I have a 5m role of 3014, 5630, 5050, and 3528 in red blue cool/warm white and rgb so i have a lot of experimenting to do. Right now the lights are just getting to the point where...

growing experiment: vegging one of my plants using a wire frame and a 5050 RGB LED strip light.

***I just finished making something a bit more substantial with the strip lights. I ordered a bunch of different sizes and colours of strip lights to play around with. Here is a small veg panel i plan on mounting to the inside of a cabinet. its rated @ 3,000k @ >80% CRI. Its rated @ 48w and...

growing experiment: vegging one of my plants using a wire frame and a 5050 RGB LED strip light.

So far everythings working fine with my test subject. Its only using 25 watts. There are some available now that have output rated @ ~300 watts per 5 meters. Id like to try something more heavy duty soon.

Why do people pay 1k USD more for an LED that does the same thing

it would be about 1000000000000x more helpful if you pulled up the link where the specs for the MARS unit is compared with higher end units. That way we could get a better idea of just exactly what the differences in performance are.

DIY COB LED 'Frame': Ideas, Suggestions?

you could just go with four individual units. that way you would have maximum flexability with moving em around, like this marvel of modern lighting technology, which will be home to a 100w chip in the near future

I ran into the exact same bullshit as well. Its too bad that seems to be the pervasive mentality around here. I kind of welcome anyone to call me out, really, I honestly put so much time into my research and study, there isn't really much you could legitimately call me out for these days. I...

growing experiment: vegging one of my plants using a wire frame and a 5050 RGB LED strip light.

Also, im not doing this because i expect it to produce superior results, or because i dont want to spend money on lighting, im doing this as a research project so that we can all benefit from the knowledge gained as a result. Big time yields is not really my goal with what im doing here. Id...
