so, if your hydro guard is not expired, what's the pH? when there are bad stuff in there, pH will drop like from 5.7 to 4.7 over night!!

So, while I'm a newbie, I will tell you my experience. I grew with all of Advanced Nutrients Beneficials (Tarantual, Piranha and Voodoo Juice), plus Mammoth P and Hydro guard. The water never gets cloudy. Now, it may just be the AN line. But then again, that was my 1st grow and it was good...

No it shouldn't or doesn't. But some hydro stores still carry expired hydroguard. If you look close enough on the bottle, it's like imprinted an expiration date on there.

Also, there's an expiration date on Hydroguard. I know cuz my Hydro store sold me an expired one. I guess the ones that expired just have dead bacillus in it. And my theory if I had to guess is that you're providing food for something else to eat.

What's your pH? I know for a fact (I'm facing some root issues too) that if you have cyanobateria or pythium about to set in, pH will drop drastically overnight, like for me, it dropped from 5.8 to 4.7 overnight.

Thank you Heisenberg. This was my last resort. I ran store bought bennies my entire first run, and they were fine. My new one, is suffering from root rot, well, i caught it early, so I think it's still at the cyanobacteria stage. I went from store bought bennies to sterile and after 4 H2O2...
