Im putting together a homemade ebb and flow system. I had to use a stainless steal nut on the fitting where my hose goes into the median. i was told that ions could leak out and change the ph... True????

i am thinking about doing ebb and flow now that outdoor is all most over. i was wondering if a standard fish tank pump works. and i was wondering if i should come up through the bottom of the median ? or side?
