From the top or bottom

So I recently put sand on the top layer of my plants I just curious as to how the fark do I water then now?

My plants have gnats I was thinking if putting steel wool over the soil wand getting some rocks as well reckon this is a good idea?

These are clones of I outdoor mother plant I had I think I've done a great job for my first grow

This is my first grow and so far I'm happy about the plants don't know how I got them to grow like they have

I have 7 plants growing at the moment in a 60x60 120cm tent and I'm using a 600watt led they are in flowering stage and seen to be growing great but I'm just curious as to whether or not there is going to be enough space
