Will the .00035 of foil in skunk bags set off a metal detector at an airport?

Taking something like that through an airport is akin to walking through the lion's den with a steak wrapped around your neck. Don't be a fool.

    HPS, please INform the UNinformed

You can get a Sun Blazer hood, a 600w HPS Hortilux bulb and a 600w Quantum digital, dimmable ballast for about $400.00. All top notch stuff. A decent 6" inline fan exhaust will set you back about another $100.00, so figure $500.00 total. There is a guy on Youtube that consistantly grows 1lb dry...

    Low Wattage HPS/MH

Why not go with a 150w HPS fixture that will also drive a 150w CMH bulb? Same wattage as the three lights you are considering and you can substitute the CMH bulb for the MH or just use CMH for the entire grow. Just a thought.

Growing under the electricity radar? growing w/o making a bid dent in the bill?

Clarification: I do feel that equal watts of HID or LED will yield similar weights, but at 4 or more times the purchase price for an equal wattage LED light. Used together, my experience is increased yields over either one by itself. Keep in mind that my experience is relatively limited with...

Growing under the electricity radar? growing w/o making a bid dent in the bill?

I suggest a 200w Solar Flare LED from California LightWorks. 5w emitters (driven at 4w each), 165w actual draw, built like a tank to last, $400.00. I found the bad press that the Sun Systems 150w HPS light had gotten regarding its actual wattage draw to be questionable, so I hooked a couple of...

this is a good website for reviews on SOME LED brands

I bought a bunch of 200w (165 actual) Solar Flare lights, 4 Bloom Boosters and 2 Veg/Bloom combo lights. They are incredible in Veg, still waiting to see how the Boosters do in flower (I have mine in with 600w HPS lights). I can say that the company, California LightWorks, is all American and...

Luxor Hoods (They've Been Out For A While Now) - Anyone Have Firsthand Experience?

I have several and they are excellent. I have also looked at the Luxor hoods, which appear to be state of the art. They are damned expensive, though, and very tall. Unless you have at least 8' of ceiling hight to work with, I think you should pass.

    busy bee led's

    Will do, thanks.

    busy bee led's

All the info I could gather pointed to higher watt emitters necessary to penetrate the canopy. However, that may or may not be the case. The Solar Flare LED's are driven at 75% capacity or 4 watts per, with the cooling fan accounting for the other 15 watts. I am not an expert on LED wattage vs...

    busy bee led's

Well, I was not able to find quality LED lights (with 5w emitters) for less than $410.00 per 165 watts, delivered. So that comes to $1,640.00 for 660 watts. I too will only use quality components. My 600w Quantum digital ballast cost about $180.00, Hortilux bulb about $110.00, Sun Blazer hood...

    busy bee led's

I would say think long and hard. My experience thus far has been that LED's are fantastic for Veg, but terribly expensive for flower (the manufacturer's claims that LED will produce the same as HID at roughly half the wattage are completely false, IMO). Equal wattage may produce as much, but you...

My dog ate half my plant

Same thing happened to a friend of mine years back on a plant he was growing outside. Not only did it recover, but it turned out to be the biggest beast he ever grew. Might be a blessing in disguise.

4 Kessil H350 - 600W HID Comparison; the highlight reel

That is a good point, but I actually spent months on end of research before deciding to take the plunge. The information I could gather suggested that LED's could come close to the performance of HPS lighing during bloom at about half the energy use. I can say that the Veg/Bloom combo LED...

4 Kessil H350 - 600W HID Comparison; the highlight reel

Long time lurker, first time poster. I appreciate your side by side comparison greatly. Do you think it would be fair to say that the deep purple Kessils are supposed to be purely for flowering and may have performed better? Regardless, I for one am quite disappointed in the LED results. Huge...
