The white shroud is an intake filter to prevent the fan from sucking fine foreign material into your filter if you’ve positioned your filter inside the tent. The shroud will not contain the near microscopic carbon granules that will blow out of a filter positioned outside your grow room.

If you’re using a feeding chart, just remember the entity that made the feeding chart makes their money off the nutes you use. Especially early in the grow, I use 1/3 the suggested amount. My results support this approach.
