Id like to amend his rule of thumb. And add in, "at least". Meaning at least a gallon per month. Cuz you could grow for 2 1/2 months but use a 5 gallon pale if you want and feed from the bottom to increase your roots. Also, Ive seen people use way less than a gallon container, Ive seen a 2 1/2'...
