So it looks like I overfeed my bin a little and got pot worms. Did some research and bin is a bit acidic. Added a 1/2 cup of pulverized egg shell to help neutralize Ph. Worms seem happy and are reproducing otherwise. Found this helpful...

I spread the used tea pretty thinly on the top. I haven’t been burying food just sprinkling here and there on rotation.

I think it is because the wick is in one spot in the earth box vs a homemade sip like y’all are making where the whole floor is a wick. I did compact the edges more and that seemed to help. Well shit! My space is limited so maybe I’ll just make a couple 15 or 20 gal sips until I can get more...

I did see that Photo+ has a longer shelf life after opening and you use less per gallon than em-1. So that’s cool.

Do you see differences in your plants vs. using em-1? How much labs/ Photo+ do you use per gallon?

I added leftover EWC, alfalfa and kelp from a compost tea and the worms went fucking bananas! They had been chowing on some malted barley, but when I added the leftovers they quickly moved and made short work of the mix.

Sooo.... to answer my own question my bin was too dry. I gave it a good watering and worms migrated to the top and spread out more evenly. I was starting to get worried, but the population has exploded.
