    Hamas offensive against Israel

I do appreciate the takes from everyone on DEI. Generally speaking, if prejude can be established based on protected status (gender, religion, etc.), then the victim's rights have been violated. In practice, however, any business can find a legal reason to fire someone whether it's the actual...

    Opinions on this

Leaf is very dark green. I would consider lockout by nitrogen as a cause (common for what appears to be K and/or Ca deficiency). Too much Mg can do that to a leaf as well (Mg and Ca each stimulate the need for more of the other). edit: N does not lock out Ca (thanks, @Billy the Mountain).

    Examples of Democratic Party leadership

More work was done at the southern border during the Biden administration than during the Trump administration. https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/cbp-enforcement-statistics But you won't find that information on Fox, Newsmax, Western Journal, OANN, Washingon Times, or any of the other "news"...

In the pots I put 4" of 3/4" gravel, then line the pots with landscaping fabric (partly to keep dirt out of the gravel, partly to help with wicking). Then soil. It's sorta like a fabric pot sitting on a wicking medium.

Thanks. I have been keeping the trays full, requiring 1/2-gallon each per day. The reservoirs are smaller than most, and can usually go a few days if needed.

    Unusual Mutation

How are these turning out? I got a couple that look like yours, just starting to grow out of it. When they popped, I didn't think they'd make it. Only planted two seeds from the pack and they both did this. I am usually fast to cull, but not these two for some reason.

South Dakota, please stop. It shouldn't be this difficult.

The secret to South Dakota is going there only for vacation. If I were in your shoes, I'd drive to Montana. There's got to be a dispensary right over the border. edit: You might have to drive through a dry county or two. :-(

Plants doing well. See before and after pH problem, photos taken 12/3 and 12/5. Phenome at back-right got hit the hardest. I flipped the light schedule and added langbeinite (heaping 1/4 tsp) on 12/4. Also put an ounce of homemade probiotic in each reservoir.

Some folks mulch. Some use a lid or plastic. Cover crops, even. Depending on your medium/wick and RH, your soil's top layer might get dryer. I ended up covering with black plastic, which also breaks the fungus gnat life cycle. I got roots poking up out the soil now.

Yes, it seems like very little, but @cannabiscrusader is spot on. Though langbeinite has a low salt index, it is still very much a salt.

I drained the reservoirs when I cleaned them. No algae or fungi were apparent where it stays dark, so that was a relief. I did not try H2O2. I will look into this approach. Feel free to educate me if you are so inclined! The langbenite I ordered just arrived. I am not sure if I will use it...

This is a good idea. I need to restart some brown rice probiotics anyway, and have all the materials gathered. I will try this before a flush - if there is no improvement. Plants are still drinking, and new, tiny growth might look greener. I don't know how much, if any, greening I can expect...

I fucked up. Started seeing deficiences: magnesium, calcium, potassium, sulfur. The leaf twisting was a dead giveaway. The algae in my reservoirs hadn't given me any issues, even though this is the third run. But I think some fungus grew to eat the dead algae - and brought down the pH level of...

    Climate in the 21st Century

I tend to go for undisturbed nature myself, whenever possible. Ironic that in order to enjoy it, I must, on some level, disturb it. But the USFS's motive likely lies behind its mission: "The mission of the USDA Forest Service is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the...

Can you help me diagnose these brown stripes right below canopy level?

I'm with @StoneDHedgE on the light-burn angle. What is your RH? Low RH, hot soil, and strong lights together will do that to a plant.

    The Long March to 11/24

I put less stock in disapproval ratings of Democrats from WaPo than I do of the same from Fox News. I'd be willing to bet Biden’s disapproval numbers are proportional to the level of hipster edginess. Get those same hipsters into the poll that really matters and see a strange change in...

Starting up again. These pots sat covered with the soil staying damp for a few months. The old rootball was pretty well decayed. I recharged with a bit of compost and a dash of Jobe's, and refilled the reservoirs. Got some - I guess F2s - from a project where I'm chasing some Chocolate...
