You can train it. Look into low stress training to start with, it's very simple, you basically just bend the stalk. I'm not going to get into details but there are lots of good tutorials online. Good luck!

.5 pH variance.. not 5 pH variance. Read the whole thread, not just bits and pieces and it would make perfect sense.. OP stated his pH'd water is "6.8-7.3" in case you're as bad at math as you are reading, that equals a variance of .5
