    Light %

It depends on the model. I have an iPhone XSMax (don't laugh!). When I tested Photone against my blurple in 2021, it failed. When I tested it in 2022 against my Growcraft, it read 16% high. What turned me off was the need for the diffuser. It's a work around for how the iPhone is designed. Now...

    Light %

When I tested Korona (before it was renamed Photone), the diffuser was not needed for Android but, if you're using an iPhone and not using a diffuser, your results will be even more inaccurate. It's a function of how the sensor in the iPhone read light. That's part of the email conversation...

    RDWC water height

Out of habit, about ½" below the bottom of the net pot but I can't imagine it makes much of a difference. I wouldn't go lower than 2" though. The only reason for that is that the more volume of nutrient solution you have in the res, the more you'll tend to have stability in terms of pH...

What's goin on with my girls, again?

I saw your posting on another thread, the one where you copied and pasted a lot of info. Overall, it was a good way to spread "the good word" about grow lighting but I lost interest when it appeared to be nothing more than a series of copy and paste actions. Amidst the verbiage was mention of...

    LED for 3x3

The Spider is a lot of light in a small tent. For me, that would be the light of choice. I can't find a PPFD map for the Growers Choice so that takes it off the table. Migro lights are, across the board, not high powered lights. All of his offerings use drivers that are lower wattage than...

Higher Yield? Perpetual auto grow vs single photo grow?

My first five grows were autos and they can be beasts (2' x' 4' x 8'). One grow is auto, one is a photo. The bottom picture is the auto grow and there are two plants in the res. The plant on the right is taking up about 80% of the space and had branches falling out of the tent. With...

What's goin on with my girls, again?

    >1000µmol is "very well fed". If they're not showing signs of too much light, that's great.

What's goin on with my girls, again?

"this particular issue" - it's not, necessarily, a function of RH being to high but the combination of temperature and RH can be such that it causes nutrient issues. The symptom is a nutrient imbalance; the cause can be temperature + RH being out of whack. 66 and 80 is cold and moist. I'd stay...

    DWC to RDWC conversion

Congrats. Having the additional volume will take a little more work but I believe it's worth it. I grow in a DWC sytem but it's a large res that holds 26 gallons of nutes so it's got the additional volume of nutes that you'll have. Per the picture above, my res is just a fiberglass tub and...

    Crystal White Kush DWC

I was asking about the filter because I got rid of mine after a few grows. My tent is in a garage and cannabis is legal here in California so I tossed it out.

Can Your Lights Be Too Bright?

When the leaves curl, you're at the light saturation point for the plant so turn the dimmer down a few % and your plant will be "well fed". How quickly did they uncurl?

What's goin on with my girls, again?

In a percentage of situations, the nute imbalance is a symptom of environmental conditions. Given that this keeps happening and you're confident that your nutrient mix is good, I'd look in that direction. What are your temperature and RH values?

    Crystal White Kush DWC

Can you ditch the filter? I haven't used one in years but it's legal here. If you need to, you can supercrop the stem. Conventional wisdom says that it doesn't harm them but it is "high stress training".

Is this too many plants for this tent

Some of it is strain dependent but the spectrum of your grow light and the amount of light have a very large influence. Historically, growers used metal halide lights in veg and high pressure sodium in flower. The spectrum for MH had a lot of blue photons and blue photons inhibit cell...

    Gorilla Cookies Autoflower from FastBuds

Nice looking plant! My first five grows were autos and they can be beasts. I grow my autos 24/0 until flower and then 21/3 or 20/4 after that. Cannabis is a light whore loves light and autos thrive under high light conditions just like photoperiods do. In terms of light, I would guess that a...

What do these pic tell an experienced eye?

Yes, if it's got chlorophyll it can perform photosynthesis and, being new, the photosynthetic efficiency is very high so there is, more than likely, a drop in net P. The question is, how much of a loss and is it part of a discussion about topping/not topping. My reason not to include it...

What do these pic tell an experienced eye?

Good point. My thinking was re. photosynthesis - that's taking place lower down in the plant. On one hand, I'd be interested in seeing data on the impact but, frankly, topping makes life so much easier than dealing with that apical stem.

Wanta try RDWC in a 4x2

You're very welcome. I found then helpful and just like to pass along the good info. Aha - a man of leisure and wealth! :-) The cost of nutes isn't a big driver once you get away from the "change it every week" and/or bottled nutes. I was in the mode for the first grow or two until I toned...

    Crystal White Kush DWC

If one plant matures earlier than the other, leave from foliage on the one that matures first. It will live though at a lower metabolic rate. But, yeh, tangle roots can be a PITA. Having said that, my goal is to grow two plants because I'm tired of having so many photons go to waste. I'm...

Wanta try RDWC in a 4x2

Yup. That "big bucket", as I call it, holds quite a bit of nutes and that makes it easy to go a few weeks between res swaps. The plants do exude chemicals as well as take them in. With the bigger res, there's more water to dilute the exudates. I've attached a couple of PDF's on res...
